Does anyone have breathing problems or any type of apnea that you think might be caused from advanced TMJD? Have you read anything that connects the 2 problems?
I've waited a little late to ask this question, I'm going for an evaluation today. I don't snore, but my husband says I make a strange noise at night, that sounds like I'm not breathing well. The ENT that did my nasal surgery a year ago thinks that I have some kind of obstructive apnea that is not apparent when I'm awake. I'm not overweight, I do not drink alcohol, my noise and throat appear to be completely open. But he says something is going on when I sleep.
I just thought I would ask in case anyone else has had this problem. Any info or thoughts will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Cymy Sue

I have had it happen once or twice it has woken me up before I thought it could be from my night time meds making me sleep deeper but now that you mention it happens to you too I am not sure. I have sinus trouble too so that might be it. I am going to research and see if there is a connection and let you know what I find out.

I have sleep apnea as well, and during the day I have a strange occurance where I'll catch myself holding my breath on the inhale = it's as if when I inhale air, every once in a while I'll catch myself holding that breath in, just holding, holding,... for about 2 seconds, and then I realize it, exhale, and try to breathe normally,... when I catch myself doing it again.
My doc said it's probably anxiety.
I'm just wanting to make sure that all these symptoms (and I do have a lot) are really NOT something to be concerned about...and I don't like to think that most of my symptoms that are not backed up by MRI's are "anxiety" because that does not provide me with enough detail of what exactly this anxiety is doing physiologically to CAUSE this.
