I get numbness sometimes in my jaw but more so in my teeth themselves. If I apply pressure to my teeth I can then feel something. Hopefully someone here may have more information on your numbness.

Do you have any of the other symtomps of TMJ? My primary problem is with my ears. They are constantly plugged.

I get periodic numbness in my teeth...not really a numb feeling but a feeling that something is not right nonetheless. Usually it is worse right after I've had to pop my jaw into place. If I apply pressure to them, the feeling usually goes away after a while. BTW, I've not yet been diagnosed with TMJ.

I experience swelling on the right side of my face. It's not noticable to others, but I can see it. Sometimes, when under a lot of stress, my right ear opening swells almost shut. I have TMJ on right side of my jaw. My jaw clicks loudly if I open and close my mouth. My right ear feels "full" all the time and I think it even affects my hearing.

I went to a massage therapist to get some relief several years ago. It helped for a few days afterwards, but the massage was very painful. Tension and anxiety seem to worsen my TMJ symptoms.

I've had numbness as well, especially after my jaw pops. In fact when I had an episode last Thursday, I had to go see someone for relief from the pain, I mentioned my jaw, lips and chin were numb and I was told by the doc he didn't understand by that would be. He said the numbness on my jaw was likely as side effect of the pain, but I shouldn't be feeling numbness in my lips and chin....of course, I'm not going back to that guy....I'd don't think he really has a clue.
