I was just wondering and I hope this isn't outta line but I am so glad they dont have Vicodin in Canada. I have had my share of problems with Percs and Oxys but it seems to me just from reading the posts on this board that hydro seems to be alot harder to Kick the the oxycodone..
Is there anyone out there who has kicked both at one point or another and tell me if this is true? I hope this isn't out of the board quidelines, it's kinda of a strange question and I hope I didn't offend anyone.

Hey, I was on percocet for a long time and then taking Lortab 10s ( so my doctor could put refills on the Lortabs) and I dont think the withdrawals are any different although It could just be me but I believe that all scheduled ll(percocet,oxycontin,oxycodone) and schedule lll(vicodin,Lortabs,Lorcet) narcotics efect the opiate receptors in your brain and spinal column. I could be wrong but thats what I believe to be right, and when you stop taking the narcs the receptors have to start functioning again and that causes alot of the withdrawals, atleast alot of the physical part anyway.Maybe somone else can define how it works a little better than I did here? But I know that Lortab 10s seemed to be stronger than a 5/325 percocet, but the pharmacist said the percocet was a little stronger, but It sure didnt feel that way at all!!I really dont think its harder kicking hydrocodone than oxycodone, especialy oxycontin! Hope this helps you some? I would say about the same except for oxycontin.

I detoxed from both oxycontin and vicodin 5 years ago. It was god awful - altho I was sleeping/sweating through most of it. I recently detoxed from vicodin -- and honestly, it wasn't as bad as I remember 5 years ago !!!

They both bind to the same receptor sites in the brain, so they are both equally difficult to withdraw from depending upon dose/length of time of use, etc.

Personally I detoxed from Norco (vikes) then detoxed from time release (duragesic patch) The patch is very similar to oxy as it is controlled time release. I found time release to be more difficult. You can do it but it was more of a challenge.

I'M HELPING MY FIANCE WITH VICODIN WITHDRAWAL, HE HAS BEEN ABUSING FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS, TAKING UP TO 10-12 DAILY 750MG
I HAVE KNOWN FOR QUITE SOMETIME BUT RECENTLY HE CAME CLEAN WITH ME AND SAID HE WANTS AND NEEDS TO STOP. 3 DAYS WITHOUT ANYTHING AND HE HAS BEEN VERY ACHEY, RESTLESS, SOME HOT FLASHES, GOOSE BUMPS, MISERABLE, AND DEPRESSED. I HAVE ACESS TO 500 MG OF VICODIN AND ON DAY 3 OF THE EVENING I GAVE HIM 2 PILLS TO HELP WITH THE COMFORT OF WITHDRAWAL, SAME THING DAY 4 AND 5 (2 PILLS A DAY) MY PLAN IS TO GET HIM WEANED DOWN TO
1 A DAY IN THE NEXT DAY OR SO AND NO PILLS AT ALL (ONLY HAVE A FEW LEFT) AND CAN'T/WILL NOT GET ANYMORE. IS THIS A GOOD OR BAD THING????????.

I DON'T KNOW A LOT ABOUT THIS KIND OF ADDICTION BUT I REALLY WANT TO BE THERE FOR HIM AND HELP WITH AS MUCH POSITIVE FEEDBACK AS POSSIBLE. ANY TIPS OR INFO WOULD REALLY HELP ME.

I think that's ok as long as you control it and not allow him to control your administration. And I would not let the 1-2/day go on for long or that will become habitual and expected.

I also detoxed from Hydrocodne 10mg.......Not fun. Back on them and am working on getting on a solid Tapper.
