--hi guys, very depressed today. i am a long time heavy clencher, have never had joint pain or very bad clicking, but lots of muscle tension and dizziness.

--I have been wearing a hard upper splint at night which helped to relax my muscles and get my jaw into a "rear" position, after i had stopped clenching my muscles protested and forced my jaw forward and i could not bring it back the splint corrected this--but my "bite" is way off.

--anyway, i have been feeling pretty good and decided to have a bagel yesturday morning (extra soft and chewy)---i really havent had any noticable problems with chewy foods--chicken/steak etc.
--stupid me

---within an hour, extreme dizziness set in, the "fog"
began to settle, and that heavy-headed feeling began. my jaw began to feel heavy to the point wear i just want to let it drop.--very depressing.

--monday i have an appointment at tufts university
in boston, they opened the largest cranio-facial pain unit on the east coast to deal with tmj/tmd---has
any one been there???

thanks for the ability to vent.

I have read good things about them.
I hope they can help you. Please let us know how your appointment goes.

good luck, it sounds like the bagel threw you off wack again you probably need another adjustment in your splint. Do you have a repositioning splint?

YES I DOE...BUT MY DENTIST IN NO EXPERT, HE DOES ATTEND TMJ CLASSESS IN FLORIDA EVERY YEAR. I HAVE WONDERED IF MY SPLINT WAS SLIGHTLY OFF, ALTHOUGH IT RELAXES THE MUSCLES AND GOT MY JAW BACK INTO A NORMAL POSITION REAR-WISE, I FEEL THAT IS IS FORCING A SHIFT TO THE RIGHT. THAT IS WHY I DECIDED TO TRY THE TUFTS
GELB CENTER---THEY ARE THE EXPERTS

I have a friend who had great results from Gelb. I am hoping to see him sometime in the future when our financial situation is better. She is doing great and without surgery too.
