bruxer

I am a long time chronic bruxer and have been wearing an occlusal spling (bite guard) for many years. This may have limited the damage I've done to my teeth, but I continue to clench and wear down my teeth even with the splint, and am starting to suffer bone loss and TMJ symptoms as a result.
I found references on the Internet to a therapy which seems to hold much more promise than wearing splints or other tradition treatments. It involves wearing an appliance which holds small sacks of foul-tasting fluid (e.g. hot chili sauce in vinegar) which wake up a sleeper when he/she begins to clench or grind. Unlike sound alarms or similar techniques, the effect seems to be a permanent stopping of bruxing.
The information is at http://www.cll.wayne.edu/isp/mnissani/bruxnet/tastenet.htm
Does anyone know anything or have any experience with this therapy? Unfortunately, it seems like it is not yet commercially available and patients might need to make the devices themselves. Does anyone know of a dentist/lab who has experience with this approach? It sounds promising, and in any case has no side effects appart from some initial sleepless nights.
Thanks.

Hi:
I don't know about you but I already have a difficult enough time getting enough sleep to survive on. I sure as heck don't want some foul tasting liquid waking me up more. It's just a personal feeling though. It might work well for others. Good luck to you.
