thank you all so much for commenting earlier on my questions regarding TMJ. My question now is how do you quell the flare ups? besides motrin and a heating pad and soft foods? It's kind of hard for me, i won't take most pain meds, and cannot take muscle relaxers due to other health issues. Any other neat ideas? Pls, i welcome all comments. TY!

Hi:
Well, you could try ice alternating with heat. Many on the list also see a massage therapist or chiropractor. I have a friend who is a massage therapist but she lives in a different state than I do but when I go visit her she massages me and it helps a great deal. I can only imagine how much it would help to get massages on a regular basis. Also, have you talked with your dentist/doctor about the possibility of some type of splint therapy. Hope this helps you some.
Tiffany
