For those whom PT has helped...what did they do that helped you? I went for PT a couple of years ago with no relief, but in scanning some of your replies here I have seen that some of you have been helped.

I am desperate at this point, I am so sick of having pain!

Unfortunately I have to go by what my insurance will allow........ :(

Thanks all!!!!

When I went to PT, they would just give me a little massage, lie on ice packs, teach me stretching exercises. The thing that really does help me - with my back/neck trouble - is the ultrasound.

My chiropractor can do the ultrasound, so I see her for adjustments and get that. And I go to a massage therapist in her office when I'm in really really bad shape. It does give me some relief, but by no means is it a cure.

My pt first heats me up for about 10-15min. Then I get the E-Stem (electric patches that they stick on my jaw joints.) - This feels REALLY good.
My pt then massages my shoulders, neck, and jaw joints. By doing this she can feel my tension, and my knots. She then goes into my mouth (wearing latex gloves) and massages my joints and muscles around my joints. (This KILLS- but it works). She also stetches my arms because they are really stiff, including my neck. I also am given an ultrasound, which they do on my actual joints. While I am given the ultrasound I am stacking tongue depressors on top of each other. The object is to see how many I can fit in my mouth. I put them in my back teeth( by my joints). We do this for 5min. on each side. After all that is done I am given exercises to do. Arm bike, Arm pully thingy, foam roller, and yellow band. The object for all of these is not to use my neck (easier said then done, my friend). The finally I am given ICE, my favorite friend.
When I am done I leave with every type of gel on me that you can imagine, but my body feels better.
I also go to an accupressure person who has been able to calm down my headaches. I have not seen her all this week becuase her sons are in town, and I can really feel the difference.
