Hi Kirtrinka - The docs I've been treated by over the last few years, one of them a sports medicine doc, strongly advised me against the use of steroidal injections. He gave it a shot one time and said if the pain returned it was most likely due to ligament laxity and weakness and would become even weaker with steroids. In my case his statement was proven correct. They helped the pain temporarily for a couple of months and then the pain returned. Those were the last steroid shots I ever got.

Steroidal injections can inactivate Vitamin D and limit calcium absorption, which ultimately lead to a decrease in bone, tendon and ligament strength. They also decrease growth hormone which further decreases soft tissue and bone repair.

I personally wouldn't let anyone go near my TMJ with excessive steroidal injections.
