ANYONE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH FLUORESCENT LIGHTING, LIKE IN A SUPERMARKET OR OTHER RETAIL STORES?

--WHEN I AM FEELING "OFF", I SEEM TO GET A LITTLE
FOGGY/DIZZY--WHEN I GET BACK TO NATURAL OR INCANDESCENT LIGHT I AM FINE.

Yep...at my first PT appt last week, the PT asked if I was sensitive to light or sound...I wasn't sure. She turned off the lights and radio and I actually sighed. I didn't realize how much bright lights and white noise or loud noise really bother me.

It makes me dizzy or just tune out like I can't focus...it's hard at work! They think I'm psycho because I sit in my office with the lights off! :)

Yes, I have the same problem. I always thought it was just me. I seem to be awfully clumsy these days. I get dizzy easily, walk into stuff and trip. I wonder if TMJ causes all these symptoms too. I used to be a figure skater so I wasn't always clumsy.

Hey Tiffany,

My PT told me that the clumsy thing was all part of the fun of TMJ. She said when there's swelling in the facial area, the body has difficulty balancing. IE, when you hold your arm out to your side, you don't need to look to know where it is. Your brain just knows spacially where your arm is. With the swelling in your face, your brain is confused and has difficulty figuring out where everything is overall...if you close your eyes is it worse?

I fall over backwards; it's so weird! She said it's normal though and that once the swelling is reduced and I retrain my muscles in my face...put my tongue in the proper resting position etc...the dizziness and clumsy dork act will go away....it has gotten a little better overall since my surgery, but first thing in the AM or when I make a sudden movement, I have no depth perception and I tend to trip or walk into walls!

Not only the lights but, closing my eyes in the shower used to make me "off balance"!

I can relate to the lights and the shower. The bright lights really get to me. Instant headache. I wear sun glasses outside even when it is cloudy. My computer at work drives me nuts, another instant headache. I had to set my own personal computer colors so they would not bother me.

Marlene, closing my eyes in the shower makes me off-balance too. I'm not fond of bright lights either. Sue

Hello Marlene,
I'm back again, for now. lol. I have been doing ok. Things have just been really busy and hectic. My Mom has had two brain surgeries in the last three months and I am starting to have troubles with my new joints again. It's possible that the rib from the right side may have come loose, and that is what is causing the pain on that side. I was suppossed to go and see him two weeks ago but I had to cancel because my Mom was having brain surgey on that day. This week my surgeon was doing surgery out of the state all week long. I go and see him on Wednesday. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I really do not want to even go in and see him. I called and gave the nurse my symptoms and she then went and put the Doctor on the phone and he is the one that thinks there is a problem with the rib. Hopefully he is just jumping to comclusions being that I have not had any recent a rays or mri's.
How have you been? I have been trying to catch up on posts. there are so many!
Take care,
Sharri
