Question, for Jill J, and any others from New Jersey...
I am about to start treatment with Dr. Schor. My consultation with him went ok. He recommended I go to a pain clinic as well and a possibly a neurologist. I following his suggestions. Anyone have any experience with him? 60% of his practice is TMJ. He seems to be very cautious. His assistant says he uses a medical appliance, not the typical dental one. I wonder what that means, if anything.

Hi:
I'm not sure what he means by a medical appliance either but you know, you are paying for his service so you can always ask him or you can call up his office and ask his office staff to check for you. I didn't remember what type of splint my orthodontist was going to make for me so I called and his staff was very helpful and patient with me. They are very patient.

I don't understand the neurologist or pain clinic referral. Usually pain clinic people are referred to
tmj specialists. Is he accredited?

Hi Quinma,

I have heard about him but have never seen him for treatment so I really can't tell you anything. I was going to go see him but opted to go see a OS since I can get it covered under my medical insurance. I think he would suggest a pain clinic due to chronic pain. Once the pain is controlled treatment would be better tolerated.

Keep me posted and best of luck Jill
