hey girls and guys
i went ot my dentist earlier today and he said that i do have a TMJ problem. my bite is 7mm from where it should be. he also said that my back is screwed up right between my shoulder blades. it's pulling my right shoulder down about 2 inches! so i also have to go to and orthotics doctor to see about my spine. My dentist knows that i was born with problems in my feet and he thinks taht i didn't grow out of them, they've just manifested in my back as i grew. (he's known me since i was 2)
so here's his story: my feet were screwed up, which screwed up my back, which spread up my neck and eventully threw my jaw off, which has thrown off the rest of my facial muscles. that explains that stupid foggy felling that i have and the eye twitching and headaches behind them.
oddly enough i'm not very happy right now. it's seems too simple that the 3 months of hell i've endured with brain fog have been in my face. i think it's because i've been let down so many times lately by the medical community that i'm sceptical now. who knows. my dentist is a great guy, very smart and nice (he didn't even charge me for the visit today!). i trust his diognosis, i don't know why i'm feeling this way right now.
did anyone else feel like this?
Thanx guys

Hi Anastasia!
Gosh, I know this is such a hard condition to cope with. I related to your story so much as I've been dealing with spine issues for 10 years - and can almost feel the connection between my tmj sypmtoms (since September) - and the rest of my body. I have also been told my arches in the feet are very shallow - and was prescribed an orthotic. I'm basically walking on the inner parts of my feet (falling inward) when I'm not supported (barefoot).
It is frustrating - and just finding out it's the jaw that's causing these symptoms is a first step. Then to identify what will help make it better is the hard part. I'm still in this phase. I'm glad you have a dentist who is trusted to at least lean on some as you try to find a tmj specialist to help guide you. Did your dentist have any advice?
Also, are your joints loose at all? - Do you crack a lot - or find yourselef subluxing joints in your spine or jaw -- or foot? This is a big part of my problem- the ligaments are overstretched (lax)... and joints don't get proper support from them.
Best of luck to you, Robyn

hi robyn
thankx for the reply,
luckly for me my dentist is a TMJ specialist. he's
fitting me for a mouth splint next week to pull my jaw forward a bit.
my joints are always loose and cracking, it's kind of disgusting actually :) i figured it might explain my natural flexability or vice versa. i'm not too thrilled on the prospects of getting a back brace.
did you find that hte foot supports helped at all? any exercises to help? i'm new to this whole thing.
Thanx a million
