Good afternoon all~ Just a quick question today...anyone know if the molds that the dentist took can be given to me, I didn't want to ask him first - thought I'd ask all of you since you seem to be so much more informed about things...I'm asking because I can't afford this guys splint and I would like to check out other dentists - I allready paid $200 and don't think I should have to get another set done..
Any info greatly appreciated
Thanks & Take Care :)

Hi Lucy,
When I had my molds taken they took 2 sets, one to make the splint from and the other to keep in the office. When I decided to change specialists I called and asked them for the second set since I paid for them and they mailed them to me. I don't know if your dentist would be different since you are not getting the splint from there. I would just call up and ask or ask them to make a copy of the molds for you...Jill

Lucy,
If you are planning on going to another dentist in the future...you will need to sign some papers to transfer your mold or cast of your teeth to your new dentist, including medical records, x-ray, etc.
I hope this helps.

Hi lucy:
Yes, you definately need to ask for your models. When I had mine done my orthodontist took two sets of impressions. One to keep in the office and one to send off to get my splint made. You paid for the impressions and you shouldn't have to pay again. Ask him for them.
