Hello guys, I have read a lot of your post and I sincerely hate you have to endure this. I am searching the site in an effort to help my Father who suffers from TMJ (or so the doctor says) I feel so badly and want to help if I can assist him. I am looking for a Physician in the Atl. area or the general vicinity. Located in North Ga. here. Appt. at emory university yesterday. Doc did not seem to suit him, the mother or my sister who drove them down there for appt. Navy2 I have read has had some atlanta contacts. How bout it guys, can you render some advice. Thanks for any replies and God Bless you all.

hi gary

search for a post called "anyone treated in atlanja" started by jwest. it was last replied to about 2 weeks ago ( i think) but it was huge. i'm sure you'll get the help you need from that post :).

There are lots of Atlantans on the board, myself being one of them. I would first stick with "conservative" treatment, by which we all mean no surgery. Has your father asked his dentist for a referral? That is the first place I would start.
Also as Anastasia mentioned there is the other post that talks ALL about Atlanta area docs. I think there is a guy in Calhoun (is that close to you?) who treats TMJD conservatively.
Let me know if this advice helps....
And if you have questions ask away, I've been through the whole ordeal more than once (had this for 8 or more years).
Hope you're having a good night,
.stacy.

Gary,

The man you may want to consult with about your father is Dr. Fred Abeles. He is a neuromuscular dentist and can help in many cases.
