I'm still having some problems. They told me if in 2 weeks, which will be Wednesday, if I was still in pain, to call and come in for a consultation with the Doc. who has done most of the Epidurals. They said he would probably want to do an MRI,. My last is over a year old. I can't have any more Epidurals, but he said there might be some other things we could do.

I will probably be calling them.
Thanks for asking.

I know you do feel terrible that you can't go with your husband, but I know even in his pain, he would rather you take care of Mike. We'll just pray all day that this is the Doctor and the answer.

Hi Cheryl,
I have an appt. to discuss where we are with this and what to do next, with the group who does the epidurals.
The Doctor is very good and I can't get in until the 18th. Maybe it will just go away by then....

My thoughts and prayers are with you today. I pray for "the trip" to be the best news you've ever had.

Cymy Sue,

I hope that the 18th comes quickly for you. I find it quite disturbing how long people dealing with chronic pain have to wait for help.

Cheryl,

I'm so sorry. I know you're afraid and feel so helpless and alone.

Did the Doctor offer any other suggestions or options?
I know you said you had already exhausted everthing possible, but there must be something, somewhere.

I saw a story on TV a few months back about a Pain Specialist in New York who was primarily working with people with disabling back pain. The story centered on 2 men who could not even walk, due to pain. This Doctor was at a Major Hospital Complex and well known for his work and research. He was using very small doses of pure morphine. (The Doctor said "Morphine" had gotten a bad reputation due to abuse, but it was a miraculous drug and when used properly and in a controlled program it works. He said when he first started this type of treatment, it was considered unorthodox by many in his field, but as they had seen more and more people respond favorably to this and not suffer any bad affects, many more pain specialists were becoming interested in what he was doing to help people) These people were not living in a fog or drugged state. The small doses worked and they were able to function and had quaility of life. One man had gone back to work for the first time in years and said he felt no ill effects from this treatment.
(The hospital name was something like Beth-Israel....I don't remember for sure)

I know you said the Pain Center there could not do more for him, but possibly someone else could.
Just a hopeful thought........

You're in my thoughts and prayers today.

Cheryl,

It could have been Boston??? It may not have been Beth-Israel. I was thinking New York, but I can't remember. I wished I could remember the Doc's name.

I hate Mike has to wait so long. With these tests, surely they will find out what's wrong.

I'm still having some problems. The injections just didn't work this time or during the treatment and PT, I hurt my back again. I'm seeing my Internist today and go over what we've done so far and see if he has any ideas. He's been the referring DR. for the Epi's and PT, after I had MRI's and the neuro's said surgery was not indicated. I trust his opinion on everything and he's very knowlegeable about back and disc problems. I hope he will get with the Pain Dr. and arrange an MRI before the 18th. It's been well over a year since I had one and I could have something else going on. I hope not.
I am still praying it will ease up, if I'm real careful. Maybe just some muscle strain.......

My thoughts and prayers are with you,
Cymy Sue

Cymy Sue,

Did you hurt your back again??? I'm sure that your doctor will order an MRI for you tomorrow. I'm sorry to hear that you continue to have problems. On the flip-side, I'm glad to hear that your doctor is one of the 'good' ones. It makes all the difference. You're in my prayers, Cymy Sue, that you find relief, soon.

Do let me know what your doctor advises tomorrow, we may be aways away, but I do think of you often.
Take Care,
Cheryl
