thank you everybody for your input, my friend talked me into going to a chiropractor as she goes to her for migraines. I was still in a huge amount of pain so i was like, what the heck. SHE (the chiro.) has tmj!! And that is why she also goes to a colleague for chiropractic care. It turns out i do have tmj and was probably on the verge of surgery, but she feels we may be able to correct it a bit. My right jaw is so bad, it is locking up the 1st vertabrae and the base of my skull. Which, is causing migraines and "shock sensation". So, she has been adjusting me everyday for 4 days and massaging the inside of my mouth and muscles to loosen up jaw so she can manipulate it. I AM A NEW WOMAN!!!!! I have no more pressure, headaches, dizziness, or anything. It still pops when I talk or chew, but if that is the only symptom i have to have then so be it!!!

I'm so happy to hear you are feeling better. From the sound of your chiro treatment, it seems like she relaxed a lot of your muscular pain and maybe maneuvered your discs. I hope you stay pain free.

thank you so much everybody!!! i am still having pain, but am so much better than before. she is really loosening up my muscles and working on unlocking my c-1. i just hope it will start improving permanently, it seems like it feels really good for a few hours but then i feel it locking up and my muscles tightening up again. so, the next morning i am off to see her agian. but, the way i look at it, seeing her everyday or every other day and not having the pain as much is better than dealing with it on my own. Thank you for the support and I hope you all find some relief soon as well.

Jojokern,
I have similar problems with my C-1 and jaw. Unfortunately my C-1 is very unstable and rotates out of place when I do very minor things...like turn my head too far one way. My Drs. think I have loose ligaments in my neck. Curious...how does your chiro adjust your C-1? I went to a C-1 specialist for a while who used a machine that was calibrated to my neck (from xrays) to adjust my neck instead of cracking it. It was a very gentile procedure. I tried traditional chiro where they cracked my neck and it made me worse. Do you also have major muscles spasms in your neck and upper back? Glad you're finding some help.

cvella,
that is the thing i am learning is that she corrects it and within a few hours it is back to where it was before. it goes back when i eat, bend over, pick my daughter up, sleep...etc. the big thing she says is strengthening the muscles around it to hold it in place. When she coreects it, first she hooks me up to the muscle stimulator, because my muscles are ALWAYS spazming and rock solid on my neck. So, for 15 minutes i am on that to loosen them up, then she "cracks" if it needs to be. But, the big thing she does that helps the most is i lay on my back and she stands behind me and for 10 minutes or so she takes my head, neck, and skull and stretches it out. this really helps the unlocking, i can actually feel it. so, for a while i will have to go every day or every other, then slowly it should start getting use to being in the right position and not want to lock up all the time. and hopefully my muscles will be strong enough to hold it there. it will never be cured, but helped. so i look at a lifetime of chiro care. but yes my muscles are very tense and spazming all the time, hence the excruciating headaches. i hope this helps a little.
