hey guys

we hear alot about ear pain, but i was just wondering how many people have sinus pain? mine is under my eyes right by my tear duct and has been bothering me something terrible for the past couple of days. it may just be the weather, we've had overcast forever in Hamilton and around the great lakes. my headaches have also increased. yay!
my other sinus pain is actually in my nose. if i were to shove a finger horizontal into my nose i feel like i'd hit the pain dead on. strange.

The simplest explanation I've found about how our sinuses are affected came from a Swedish Univ. research report:
With all of the muscles of mastication so very dependent on each other and the intracasies of the neural network, anyone with TMJD would most likely suffer some form of sinus cavity abnormality.
In short, the neurotransmitters do not send the correct signals or the signals get blocked and the sinuses do not drain properly. This causes sinus pain, problems and congestion.

Also, I've noticed in the past few years, some Doctors now list sinus problems as a symtom of TMJD.

yes, that's right.. sinus pain can be a symptom associated with TMJD. in fact, my osteopath thought it was strange that i didn't have sinus pain. well, she thought it was strange in a good way. :)

Yup, I had sooooo much sinus pain. I had two CTScans of my sinuses in less than two years. Finally, the second one was ordered by an ENT, and he told me my sinuses were picture perfect and clear. He said I probably needed to try some neurontin for atypical facial pain. I am going to a TMJ specialist now who has me up to 900 mgs of neurontin and it has helped alot. I'm also having physical therapy for neck and jaw, and I get a stabilization splint in two weeks. The physical therapy sometimes aggravates the sinus pain on the day I get worked over. But I know I need it and the PT guy is a specialist on TMJ.
