I was just wondering if there are any people on the boards that have pain even when there jaw is not locked. The reason why I ask is because in the 5 years of my TMJ problems I have only had my jaw lock 3 times. But I am always in pain. So do any of you still get pain when there is no locking?

Ryan...I am new to this as my TMJ has just "resurfaced" after being "extinct" since the early 80s...but I thought I would answer because my jaw does not lock at all (even tho sometimes it feels like it might when I yawn) but I am in pain most of the time! I have an apt with a TMJ doc in a week and am hoping to get this all figured out and hopefully on my way to being pain-free! Just wondering..What do you do for your pain?

I dont do anything. Pain killers are useless. I am having a plint made and will see how that goes. My bite is so screwed up my teeth will have to be moved around with braces sooner or later.
