Oh boy guys, I am down and depressed right now. I just went and picked up my MRI results andstarted bawling...literally.

Finding:
On the right side, there is anterior displacement of the posterior band of the disc with the mouth closed. With opening of the mouth, the condyle translaets across the posterior band of the disc which may be responsible for the clicking heard on the right side. These findings are compatible with the diagnosis of mild derangement of the R temporomandibular joint.

On the Left side, the findins appear to be more severe. There is anterior displacement of the disc with the mouth closed, on the left. With opening of the mouth, the disc appears to remain in an anterior position. These findings are consistent with severe internal deranegment on the left.

Findings

Both TMJ joinnts appear to be abnormal. There are findings compatible with mild internal derangment on the right and SEVERE internal derangement on the left.

I have no idea of what to do or who to turn to. I feel sick to my stomach and apologize for venting it out on the board. But I do really appreciate your ears and support.

And ideas would be greatky appreciated! :)

Hi (((KCgirl))) -
Oh boy, I have been there KCgirl. My tomogram showed my condoyles are flattened, worn out on one side. Are you going to call Dr B? He can explain all that stuff to you and what it really means. Oh my gosh, that type of news is always so frightening, take some deept breaths, love on yourself, sometimes it sounds worse then it is.
Let us know what Dr B says
Hugs

Hi,
Having been there I can tell you that those "findings" are not really good news. Please just take my advice on one thing, if you havent already fallen into the "SURGERY TRAP" don't fall now. Try any types of conservative treatments possible, remember that one surgery leads to another. I learned the hard way. I'm not trying to be a know it all I'm only trying to be helpful.

im sorry that you're so sad.. even tho i dont know you irl, it breaks my heart. *hug*

be glad, tho, that it didnt show articular changes. that's one thing to be glad about. also, you've got this board to find out new treatments that are safe and conservative.

im sorry if you said it elsewhere, but what type of therapy/treatments are you in right now?

take care,

- saaraah.
