This is a new thread because the first one has about a 100 posts. It's getting to be too much to download and go through. So, if anyone has anything to say about treatment in the Atlanta area, feel free to post. I am seeing a neuromuscular dentist tomorrow, to discuss my treatment plan. I hope he can help me.

Hi Cheryl!

Thanks! I posted on the other board a little too. It's getting late and I better get some sleep. I have to be up in 3 or 4 hours. Have a great evening/morning.

Hugs!

Just wanted to bring the Atlanta thread back to the top of the board .There have not been many Atlanta posts recently .From past posts I know there are alot of Atlanta people searching for help. Has anyone found any new doctors they feel are good? I am still looking for a good tmj doctor that has helped others. Best of luck to all in your search for pain relief.

Hi!

I've given up on finding a doctor in Atlanta. I'm traveling to see an LVI neuromuscular dentist in New Mexico.

Hi Julie,

I thought you were being treated by Dr. Razook. Didn't you have the jaw surgery and then found out both discs were displaced? I hope I don't have you confused with someone else. My memory isn't the greatest these days.

I was seing Dr. A in this area, but, to make a long story short, I'm not seeing him anymore. This week, I'm flying to New Mexico to see Dr. Brookover. He also treated Diane and some other people on the boards are going to see him too. You may want to check this dentist out. You can find him on LVI and he said I can have people call him. I'm tired of paying out money for consultations, PT, Chiro, etc only to have my symptoms return or get worse. I want my life back and I think Dr. Brookover can do that for me. It's nice to see you back on the board.

Navy and other Atlanta area people: Haven't seen any posting for a while and wondered how your treatment is progressing as I am trying to follow up on all leads for my own treatment. I am looking for a doctor that can successfully treat my pain and am considering going to the pain center at Univ. of Kentucky. I have heard of Dr. Jeffery Okeson there in Ky. and wondered if anyone knew about this treatment facility.

While I am loathe to recommend doctors anymore, I will tell you what my wife's current doctor is doing, and how she is progressing. Along with the TENS every visit, her doctor performs trigger-point injections combined with spray-and-stretch. At her first visit, he made her a pain-release splint, which is a flexible splint designed to do what it says. If the patient makes progress with the splint, he then makes her a hard orthotic appliance. She has been five times. On the second visit she went through neuromuscular testing. That wasn't much fun. On the third visit, he built up the splint to 4mm. She saw great progress after that adjustment, with jaw and ear pain reduced, though only about 30-50%. Since the splint is now falling apart, and she has seen some improvement, she is getting the hard orthotic in 3-4 weeks. She has seen no improvement in her posterior neck pain, which wakes her up at night. May be unrelated. It is a burning, neuropathic pain, caused by ???? Muscles? Cervical spine? The doctor's name is Bill Williams, and is located in Suwanee. He has a large website explaining his process. Worth reading. I think he is worth a phone call. Besides her initial botox injection, his method is the first to reduce her jaw and ear pain. Good luck.

Dan
