I think it is very serious. I would recommend that you see a dentist that specializes in the treament of TMJ to be evaluated. Do you have any other symptoms?

Yes, I think you should see someone who specializes in the treatment of TMJ. I don't know if you grind or clench your teeth, but I think you might need to be fitted with a splint to wear at night. A lot of people experience relief with just wearing a splint at night. I had to wear mine for a couple of weeks all the time to get my symptoms under control. I would not let anyone talk you into surgery until you have tried more conservative measures to get your symptoms under control. I am assuming your jaw is not in locked position all the time. I did not have any trouble with my jaw getting locked, but I have read of other people who experienced this problem. Anyone else have any ideas?

Thank you Michelle I appreciate your responses,
I am not always in the locked position but it gets locked every day. I clench my teeth for a fact but I am not sure about the grinding, although my front tooth is cracked all the way down. I am very confused and I will let you know how everything goes!!
