Hello Everyone,
Is it possible to get a retainer if you have TMJ? I mean if you can't afford a splint, won't a retainer keep you from clemching as well? I think I am going to ask my orthodontist! Do any of you know? Thanks!

Hi Ouch:
I'm afraid a retainer won't do the job that a splint is made to do. I have been wearing a retainer for quite some time and it did nothing to help with my TMJ symptoms.
