I can't see living another day with this pain and don't know what to do. A few days ago my tmj flared up like never before. I had excrutiating pain all along my jawline. I was taking 2 vicoden and two advil every 4 hours to no avail. Finally I went for a trigger point injection. I put it off b/c I'm not in a financial situation where I can afford it. Anyway, I had 10-15 injections all along my jaw and in my cheek. This was yesterday and I still feel no relief. My pain is just as bad and actually worse around my cheek. I don't know if it's extra sore from the injection or what. I'm also taking meperidine, given to me by the oral sugeon (I guess to help until the injection kicks in)...but it's not making a dent in the pain. I'm so scared that maybe I have a tumor or something in my face or mouth. Has anyone else had pain in the cheek, about an inch away from the jawbone? Aren't trigger point injections supposed to work pretty rapidly? PLEASE, PLEASE RESPOND.

Hi Sunshine, I've never had the injections in my jawline before, but had a "Depo Medrol"(cortizone?) shot in my arm yesterday which I am still waiting to feel some relief from! I would say just give it a few days and check back with your doctor...your jaw is probably sore from all the injections! Take care and keep me posted!

Have you seen a dentist who specializes in tmj treatment?
