View Full Version : Excessive urination

I am a 42 year old male, and for the last couple of months I have had the strangest urination problems. At some point during the day, I will have to urinate every hour (or less) and pass large amounts of very dilute urine. This goes on for 4 to 8 hours. Eventually, the trips to the bathroom become less frequent, the urine becomes more concentrated (sometimes too concentrated), and I pass much smaller amounts. I don't drink any fluids that contain caffiene (I do drink decaf coffee, though), I don't drink any alchoholic beverages, and I drink no more than 72 to 120 oz. of fluid a day. I take Zestril and Betapace for hypertention. My doctor has done a urinalysis, micro albumin, and blood tests, and they don't point to anything being wrong with my kidneys. She says that if I had nocturia (which I don't), and the urine was never concentrated, she'd have me checked out for diabetes insipidus, but otherwise, she's stumped. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Thank You

Well, this topic has been sort of broached before. I am probably not a lot different to you. I pee heaps in the morning - at least every hour - more like every half hour. Later in the day I am more reasonable. I get up in the night once, maybe twice. I am 43. I am a runner so I try to drink heaps but don't always manage it. I do drink alcohol.

I don't regard it as an issue though it is inconvenient. I have had various tests over time that indicate my bladder and kidneys are fine. I have always attributed it to a metabolism that kicks in with a vengeance in the morning - mostly from running in he early morning. Not sure this helps - but maybe you aren't alone!
