My husband has a PSA of 3.5 which is higher than the level three years ago when it was 2.5. The doctor said he has a slightly enlarged prostate and prescribed Flomax. Has anyone else tried this drug for BPH problems? He gets up in the night to go the bathroom once or twice, and complains of his urine stopping and starting slowly at times. Thanks, Sam

I took Flomax for about a week after a colon operation. It worked great. I have BPH and it was really hard to void after the operation. After a week or so everything was back to normal and I no longer need it. No side effects I could determine but it was a very short treatment.

I took Flomax for several years, before I had my prostate surgically removed when it got cancerous. Flomax is highly effective in relieving symptoms of BPH. Just one word of caution: it can lower blood pressure. That's usually no problem unless you're taking an antihypertensive drug. In that case it can lower blood pressure too much. That happened to me. But a quick dosage adjustment in my antihypertensive medication fixed the problem.
