My right Testical area swelled up early last week. There is a dull pain there at times. I called my Doctor and he saw me Thursday.
He squeezed the testical and felt nothing, no lumps etc. There was no pain, just pressure from him. He said the testical felt completey normal in size and shape.
Then he said, as he moved his hand a bit, is there pain here. I said yes, I felt a pinching pain when he squeezed down. He said ok, right here? He squeezed again and I said yes. I jumped a bit. He said ok thats your Epididymis and it has an infection causing your swelling.
He when on to explain that its a fairly common infection and gave me 500mg of Cipro twice a day for 14 days.
After the exam I became very sore there the rest of the day and into the night and I had a hard time sleeping because it was so sore, but the next day I was better, except for the standard dull pain that pops up now and then.
Does this seem like Epididymitis to anyone who has had it?
How long does it take to get the swelling down? I'm on my third day of Cipro with no change yet.
Any other helpful hints to help get the swelling down?
The pain is not stopping me from my daily activities. He said I can continue with sports, workouts etc, as long as the pain doesn't bother me. In fact it feels better when I play softball, I played today and when my body warms up it seems the dull pain subsides.
Thanks for any help

Have you had a vasectomy? If so this is common. If not, it may be infection. Try ice packs to relieve the swelling.

Please help!
I had a vasectomy and have been on Cipro for 2 days. I know that might not be long enough, but I'm scared about the pain and swelling I'm experiencing. How long does it take for the pain in my testicles to go away? Do the antibiotics work fatser than 3 days?
Ken7, how long did it take for you to recover?
