I'm hoping someone can advise me what might be going on with me...I'm a 40 year old female.
I've never had an overactive bladder or anything like this before. About one month ago this started...when I need to go to the bathroom, if I don't get to the bathroom immediately when I get the urge, I have a problem holding it and urine starts leaking out. I've never had a problem holding it until I could get to the bathroom before this started about a month ago. It happens every time. I work fulltime, and obviously this could be very embarrassing if urine leaked out and showed on my slacks or skirt. I just think this is so strange that out of the blue this started happening. I've never been pregnant, so I know that's not the problem. I did have a yeast infection about 3 months ago, but I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with this. Does anyone know what else might cause this? Seriously, I always laughed at those Depends commercials, but now I hate the thought of possibly having to wear those things!

I think you should go and see your doctor. The most common cause is a urinary infection so you should get it checked out.

There could be other things going on that could be taken care of quite easily (and that will only get worse by putting things off). It wouldn't hurt a thing to go see a urologist.

Speed, I don't have a urinary tract infection...that was definitely ruled out, but I rather had a yeast infection...I was treated with that one dosage pill (forgot the name)and it cleared up. I need to make an appt. with my gyn. dr. anyway for next month, so I will mention the problem that I'm having, and hopefully he can help figure out what's causing the problem.

That you don't have a UTI is good news. The one dose thrush tablet is diflucan - very efffective.

Of course if you were male I could say prostate - but you're not! Good luck!
