View Full Version : Looking for a center for "Urologic Excellence"

I had a pyleoplasty 20 years ago and now have chronic pain due to nerve and muscle damage. Also I have redeveloped a UPJ obstruction, due probably to scar tissue. I have been managing the pain through a pain clinic, and my pain dr. is encouraging me to seek out a center for "urologic excellence", and that is the reason I'm posting here. I have given up hope of finding a urologic solution to my pain, but my dr. thinks I should persevere. I have, over the years, been to a dozen urologists, neurologists, anesthesiologists, and others in an effort to fix my pain. I have been to the Mayo Clinic in AZ. Is there another clinic, hospital, or school that anyone could recommend to me that might be able to look at me with fresh eyes? I don't need guarantees, and I'm not limited to the USA. Comments and emails appreciated. Thanks, Mike. mcgrover1@aol.com

I know how hard it is to find someone decent. The route I have gone in the past is to do a search on Medline (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/) on your particular problem and then try emailing some of the authors. I have found they are better at giving decent referrals than the medical profession who seem to be a bit protective of their own and won't give real opinions on people. Good luck!
