For about a month now i have been having pain in my hip, pelvic, and lower groin area and lower back area. It is a persistent steady type of pain. I have no difficulty urinating, ive seen no blood in my urine, and i dont experience any burning sensations when i urinate. Two weeks ago i went to my urologist who prescribed to me an antibiotic which i took for 2 weeks. I received very little relief and went back to him the other day in which time he prescribed to me another antibiotic which i have been taking now for several days. Unfortunately i still havent received much relief. In fact im probably feeling even worse. The pain radiates into my left testicle area and the pain is generally all on my left lower side. I cant get another appointment with my urologist till after the new year. When i went to him in the past weeks he said he believed i was suffering from prostratis.
Has anyone experienced any of the symptoms i am currently having and were you diagnosed as having prostratis. I never had anything like this before. Im a 49 year old male. Thanks for any responses.

a couple of questions. are you sure its prostatis? it could be epididymitis. also, what kind of antibiotics?

here is the bottom line, if it is either prostatis or epididymitis, its annoying and hard to get rid of and reoccurs. I have been dealing with epididymitis for about a yr and just now getting to feeling pretty good. the one thing that worked with me was anti inflammartory medicine. Vioxx is a good one that must be prescribed. good luck and just be sure your doctor is finding the actual problem. mainly because it takes a certain kind of anti biotics to kill certain things. the one that worked best with me was cipro.
good luck

Hello Tony, you may have a condition known as Pudendal Neuropathy, which is unfortunately almost always
misdiagnosed as prostatitis. Are you having stinging and burning,or a pins and needles sensation near your anal area ? Also are your symptoms aggravated by sitting ? If you do have this condition then be advised that it is highly unlikely that your Urologist will know anything about it.Let me know if you would like more information and I will be very happy to send it to you.Good Luck,rocky59

Think about kidney stones.
I think you may be chasing zebras when you should be after horses. That's medical talk for thinking of common things first.
Have you ever had a kidney stone??? Did your doc take an x-ray of your abdomen? Your symptoms sound like a stone to me. To avoid these, try drinking more water and less of other fluids.
