Where do I begin....
I am 21, female, married. Have a history of UTI's, kidney stones, uterus infections, pain during sex, no periods. Also ride and train horses on a regular basis, as well as run.
A couple of months ago while at work I began having extreme burning. It was like a sudden attack of a raging kidney/bladder infection. Hurt like crazy to pee. Immediately went to gyno, urine test for infection negative. Did an exam and diagnosed as uterus infection. Gave me medicine, but pain ended that night, never returned. Then a few days ago I was sitting at work and felt the same thing happen. Went riding, and it got increasingly worse. Finally ended late that night. Several days later I begin my run on the treadmill and pain starts up again. By evening still going strong so I take a Darvocet (painkiller). Doesn't stop so I take a Valium (muscle relaxant). This immediately does the trick. Since then I have had very short little "attacks" that go away, but I have not exercised yet-- thay will be the real test.
My dad, who is a doctor, is almost certain that this is a bladder spasm. I drink a lot of water--it's all I drink. There seems to be no infection, and it comes and goes so quickly. But it is very intense. But here is no loss of bladder control-- no incontinence, just PAIN!
Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing? Could this maybe be related to my deep pain I have during sex? Something new to add to my list of defects.

In a word, no I haven't but I also have had some strange sensations during exercise. Not at all common, often around period time either PMT or just at the start. I'm a runner and the feeling is like the whole of your gut want's to drop out of your vagina. Awful feeling - only had it 2-3 times. IF your rest it subsides and goes away. So must besomething to dowith blood circulation being taken from that area to the legs etc when exercising. Definitely not a potty stop feeling, or even a urination type feeling. More like my uterus wants to prolapse!
So I can't add much. Except is valium a muscle relaxant?? - what would happen if you took a smooth muscle relaxant like scopolamine??? I think that's right. Your Dad might have some comments. I mean, often the results from the treatment are a good indication of what it might be.

Kateytwo:You might possibly have a condition known as Pudendal Neuralgia. You might want to check out
http://www.ontherun.com/medforum/messages/248.htm and look for the resident guru there Mike C.If you do in fact have this condition be advised that there are less than five doctors in the U.S.A.that have any understanding of it.The real expert is a Dr.Roger Robert in Nantes France.

This may be a longshot but you also might want to check for vaginal yeast levels with your gyno. Yeast infections can cause burning all over, even when you pee!

Sounds like you might have endometriosis. I had every symptom you have mentioned. Go to this website for more info. Painful periods and deep pain with sex are the main symptoms. I also had bladder/kidney infections ALL the time! www.geocities.com (http://www.geocities.com)

I had what I thought were symptoms of a bladder infection...the typical awful burning and hurting when you urinate, then that sensation all day that you have to go when you don't really. I went to my gyn. dr. who did a urinalysis, it came back negative. He gave me some medication to try to just ease the pain...didn't want to give me any kind of antibiotics if the urinalysis didn't show any infection...the medication eased the pain for a day or two, then the pain and burning started again. I went back to the dr...he sent me to the hospital lab for a more extensive urinalysis and also a culture, and everything came back negative again. He gave me the same medication/pills for the pain again, but they didn't help much at all, and obviously didn't clear up the mystery of what was wrong. I went back to my gyn. a 3rd time (this was going to the gyn. 3 times in two weeks, how awful!). This time when he examined me again, he saw that I'd developed a yeast infection and gave me medication for that. He said if that didn't clear up the pain and burning, that he'd probably either have me get a cat scan of my kidneys and/or send me to a urologist. Well, this is bizarre, but after taking the medication for the yeast infection, the pain and burning went away...it's been about 3 months, and no more pain...I'm doing fine. It just goes to show you that you can have a yeast infection but not have any of the typical symptoms of a yeast infection...my symptoms were exactly like that of a bladder infection, but that's obviously not what I had. There's nothing more aggravating!

I just started having really sharp pains 3 nights ago along with chills and then a fever of a 100.8. I went to the doctor and he seems to think that I am experiencing bladder spasms. He said that these are usually associated with burning when you urinate, but I have not had that problem. My back hurt very bad, and the pain went down my legs, it felt like it was going all the way down to the bone. He put me on Urispas. I also have painful sex, I can usually only be in a certain position, and I have to be in control so it doesn't hurt. I have not even been having sex that often because it's more annoying then it is pleasure. I also have very irregular periods. The longest I have ever went without it is 10 months. My pap smears always ome back normal, but they never have really done any other testing on me. The doctors don't really even seem to care it seems like. Does anyone know of a good doctor in the northeast Indiana area? I'm tired of not knowing what's wrong with me!! I am only 20 years old (will be 21 in 3 months), and I have had these problems for awhile now.

if no infections can be found, its possible that the burning is caused by anxiety and a small dose of imipramine often stops the buring by calming the bladder
