Hi, I'm trying lose 15 - 20 pounds and also get stronger. I was thinking about taking xenadrine because a lot of people say it works. I also hear a lot of bad things about it. Does anyone have any experience with it, or maybe some alternatives that don't have ephedrine or so much caffeine? I'm currently using protein to gain muscle too.

Thanks for any help

I've found it doesn't help much. Does decrease your appetite a little and makes you a little jittery. As usual the advertising makes it sound better than it is.

I wouldn't take this drug because it contains epherdine, which makes u jittery, epherdine is a methanphedamine *sp?* that messes with the central neverous system, thus effecting your nerves and makes your hands shake and stuff, do u get those systems? also guarana can do this....these aren't all that safe of drugs, i don't take them...i found the best way to lose weight is take FIBER and drink a lot of water, and exercise most importantly!

Methamphetamines are synthetic (man made) illegal drugs.

There's a post on the weight loss board of people talking about their experience with Xenadrine.

yes Xenadrine does conatin ephedrine, but when taken incorrectly can have side effects, but when taken according to directions it can have amazing results. It's also been criticly proven to help one lose weight, by helping you control appetiete, increasing your body temp, burning fat and using the body in your water to its fullest potential. The side affects are less than 1% but it's always best to consult your doctor or physician before taking any kind of product

I can tell you all about
Xenadrine and Metabolife and what they've done FOR me and TO me. Within 2 years of having my second child, I ballooned to a size 16. I LOVE to eat and have undeniable food cravings, so when I heard about Xenadrine I had to try it. It worked. Within 2 months (No kidding)I was a size 10 again. It gave me energy and helped me curb the cravings. It also gave me awful mood swings and made my heart race if I just walked across a room. I decided to try Metabolife as an alternative. It works even better. I have NO cravings or desire to eat, however, I drink a Slim Fast shake for breakfast and lunch and I eat lots of fruit. I am a size 8 and loving it. Here's the bad news.My heart is pounding worse than when I was on Xenadrine. Even when I go to bed. I also noticed that my hair is thinning, which I already have fine, thin blond hair to begin with, making it even worse. ( I went to a few web sites and found that ephedra, found in both products, is a coagulant - which can cause hair loss. They also stated that rapid weight loss can cause this, but as I have been hovering between 8 and 10 for 3 months now, I'm going to assume it's the ephedra causing my problem.)I have also noticed a cold feeling lately in my chest and left arm, kind of like how your stomach feels when you drink something cold. And here's my biggest problem with these products - I'm addicted. Not like an addiction to a drug, it's more mental. When I don't take them now - I get cravings so bad I binge. I feel as though the only way I can maintain my weight is to take something. I am, however, looking for an alternative to ephedra. My advice to you is to never start taking them at all, but then again, I know how hard it is to lose weight and this may not happen with everyone. It's up to you. Hope I helped.
