I've been taking a high potency multivitamin/mineral for quite some time now and I have seen a hugh difference in my hair...I don't know if it's the biotin in it but I am not losing my hair anymore. Do not worry, biotin won't make you hairy in other places ;-) Try to get a B-Complex with 300 mcg of Biotin in it...good luck!

I've been using Peak Advantage Multi from Vital Age Formulations...but you can use any type of high potency multi as long as it has a good dosage of Biotin in it...300 to 600mcg

is biotin sold my itself? Should I try breaking the pills in half so i can spread out the dosage and minimize wasting it?

Yes you can buy biotin alone but you don't have to spread out the dosage. Just follow what it says on the bottle. Another thing, try to get capsules, not pills because they are better absorbed.

Also try using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. It contains biotin(mind you lower down on the ingredient list). It is more costly than most salon shampoos/conditioners, but it works to help with excessive daily hair loss and really cleanses the scalp to optimize the environment for healthy hair. I used to use it years ago and it worked great. I've gone back to it recently, and hopefully I get the same results. I think you'd love it - especially using it with a supplement.
