All things, I bought the L-theanine today and took two pills. 100 mg. each. How long does it take to kick in. I didn't feel any different after I took them. Is it like a vitamin that needs weeks to get into your system or do you feel better right away. Just curious..thanks..bride527

Good timing. I've been away for awhile, and just got back online tonight. :)
When I've been off amino acids for awhile, then resume them, I feel better in an hour. For instance, I had been eating poorly, not taking any supplements, etc. and decided to get back on track. I took the amino acid complex, not any particular one by itself, and felt a rush of good feelings. My energy was up, my appetite was down, my nerves were smoothed out, and I could just feel the proper nutrition smoothing out all the "holes" in my brain. :D

Wow, so you felt better as soon as you took your amino acids. Well i don't think it took my anxiety away like it was supposed to. I wonder if it will work the longer i take it...Maybe i am just better sticking to the XANAX when I need it. I thought this stuff would be a good alternative.. does it take time to get into your system?bride527

Did I mention Valerian before? It's very good for mild anxiety, but I don't know if you might need something stronger(it's herbal). I take it on the rare occasions that I feel irritable and anxious, and it works inside a half hour or so. Also, some people swear by Rescue Remedy. It's a small but potent liquid that you use under the tongue. Tastes a little boozy. :)They give it to thoroughbred racehorses to calm them down...they tend to be hyper. My daughter has used it for her horse, a racehorse turned personal pleasure horse, with very good results. I still get my best results from the complete amino complex and GABA - nature's valium, (or so they say). Anyway, I tried this and that, and came up with these things that worked for me. I couldn't stand the prescriptions, and feel fine on the natural products. Besides I'm mad at the obscenely rich pharmaceutical companies and their inflated prices...but that's another story. :D

Always be sure to check with your doc first before starting any new supplements as some can interact with other medications you may be taking or they may not be safe for people with certain medical problems.
