Help please, my husband just finished his last chemo (YEAH!), now he's on the med coumadin(he developed a blood clot), his doctor says he cannot take any vitamins, I don't believe that!!!! Can anyone please tell me what he can take to keep his nutrition level at optimum? (while my husband gets along well with his oncologist, I just feel that he has a closed mind and not wanting to deal with naturapathic/holistic means of healing-the oncologist that is...) Thank you so much--have a blessed day!

Our child went through several rounds of intensive chemo, a bone marrow transplant and needed lovenox [low molecular weight heparin] injections for emboli.
In general, pls follow your HEM/ONC's advice - vitamins and supplements can interact with the meds and adjuvant therapy your husband absolutely needs. Pls read the attached info on coumadin - there are warnings about diet and nutrition.

This is the NIH alt/comp med clinical trials site: http://nccam.nih.gov/clinicaltrials/cancer.htm
The Johns Hopkins, Fred Hutchison and M.D. Anderson centres have excellent cancer patient nutrition information. To ask questions of and exchange information with other cancer patients and their families, visit ACOR.org.
Good luck,
Jay
