I've heard some people say that Vitamin E can make things worse. Try Mederma... For the B-5 (Panthothenic Acid) you need to take 5-10g a day which is a VERY high dosage. It metabolizes fat and carbs into energy, so taking high doses will turn the oil made by your glands into energy, instead of it being released through your pores... If you are overweight, it can help since it basically boosts your metabolism.... Also, you cant just quit taking B5 once your skin is clear, you need to gradually lower youself to about 1g a day... Post at the Acne forum for more info...

Yep B-5 is right!! Visit the Acne portion of this sight and you can receive tons of advice on scar treatments. Does Mederma really work because I have been considering that too myself?

Try Retin-A (prescription required) or buy it in Mexico. You will need to use it consistently every nite for a couple of years (and don't wash your face before you use it).

Hi! I've never posted on this board before, but saw this topic and wanted to put in my 2 cents. I just discovered emu oil. I actually met the guy who runs an emu ranch (who knew there was such a thing!) He said he's been using the oil on his face for over 20 years and he has NO wrinkles, his wife was the same way. Anyway, it's supposed to be really good for scars. A cousin of mine used it on surgical scars and they look great. I've got scars from being thrown into a barbed wire fence(ouch) and some other misc. scars. After 3 weeks I can already tell a difference in some of the newer scars and it takes a little longer for older ones. The brochure that came with my oil says to use it for acne and acne scars, so you might want to check that out. Just my thoughts!
Good luck!
Lana :)

zinc works well, and i've heard vits E and C help because they increase collagen growth.Be careful with zinc and vit E...they are toxic in large doses.

Also, I've heard alpho lipoic acid(sp?) helps too, but haven't tried it yet.

I also think retin a works too. It increases collagen production and cell turnover. It also makes you peel, which is good...people pay tons of $$ to peel(dermabrasion, chemical peels, etc.) this is just a longer process.
Good luck

BTW, batman, why shouldn't I wash my face b4 I use my retin-a? Also, do you use retian-a micro?
Thanks :)

I heard through the acne board here that b5 can be a nightmare breakout wise. Ask someone at GNC what they recommend for 'healthy skin or improving skin' (less embarassing) My tiny amount of scars went away through time and through keeping my olive skin tan as can be and also mint julep facial scrub

I used Emu Oil on my face for 3 months. It worked very nicely for the first month, made my skin amazingly smooth and did a decent job on the scars from acne. But it only worked for a month. And after that I broke out in little closed comedones that I'm dealing with to this day, a year after starting the emu oil.

use wheat germ oil (rich in vit E) and dilute a blend of the essential oils of frankincense and lavender in it (4 drops of lavender and 1 of frankincense to 10mls of oil).
