So many articles will state to take certain vitamins in the morning, certain ones should be taken with certain foods, but have not been able to find out which vitamins they are talking about - articles have been very general and not specific.
Can anyone help me with this? EG. can you take your calcium supplement with your multi-vitamin in the morning? etc.
Thank you in advance.

I can't give you many specifics on what to take with what but for optimal absorbtion I believe that most multivitamin/mineral supplements are best taken at around 8-9 in the morning.
As far as individual vitamins and minerals, hopefully there's someone out there that can advise you on that.

I have read that taking calcium is best in the evening & supposedly you get the best results if you take it w/ Vitamin C. I believe that most vitamins should be taken w/ food in order to avoid stomach irritation.

Calcium is calcium, a very important mineral. But a good calcium supplement should also have magnesium and Vitamin D to help with absorption. And yes, it's good for insomnia, aches and pains, arthritis, and numerous other ailments. Calcium is the number one nutrient of which most people are deficient. Most people would benefit from calcium supplementation. Y

Remember the old wives tale for when you can't sleep - drink warm milk - it's the calcium.

Oh, yes, I forgot about the original question. Sorry. Just follow the instructions on the bottles. Some will say to take on an empty stomach and some will say to take with a meal. I guess it just depends on how they react in your stomach and your body. I think most supplements are better taken in the morning. That way you have the nutrition and energy that they supply available to you all day long. But I have heard to take the calcium at night. Probably because it helps you sleep.

Higland: It is actually the L-triptophans and not necessarily the calcium in milk that helps you sleep. It does not need to be warm, either.

Never take calcium with Iron, as they inhibit the absorption of each other. Also if you take the full recommended daily allowance of calcium at one time, your body will have a problem absorbing it. Some scientists and nutritionists recommend taking no more than 500 mg of calcium at a time, and spacing out calcium intake several times a day.
If you have any questions or are taking supplements it might be a good idea to ask your doctor or pharmacist so that you can have proper instructions, specific to your diet/supplement use, in order to ensure that you are getting all of the calcium that your body needs.
