View Full Version : Has anyone tried using juicers instead of taking supplements for their vitamins?

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a juicer to make my own carrot juice. (or any other veggie juices). Of course, if I started drinking carrot and other veggie juices, I'm assuming that I'd have to quit taking my vitamin supplements so that I wouldn't be overloading on vitamins.

Anyone else use juicers rather than taking supplements?

Thanks. :)

I did that for awhile and it made me felt great, much better than vitamin supplements. But then I got lazy about it because it takes some work. It requires lots of vegetables to make a glass of juice, so you're always having to get to the store to replenish your supplies. You really need to buy Organic vegetables and fruits because you are getting concentrated amounts, and it can be difficult (and expensive) to find organic produce. Then of course, there's cleaning the juicer afterward.

But if you're willing to do this, it is without a doubt the very best method of getting your nutrients (in my opinion anyway). My favorite was carrot/celery juice, sometimes with parsley added--delicious. Fruit juices really give you an intense dose of sugar, so they should be drank in moderation (apple juice is ok though). If you're interested, I can give you the name of the best juicer I ever found, very reasonably priced too.

Juicing is great. I do it every day and it is not a hassle at all. It takes less time to juice and clean the juicer than to prepare cooked vegetables. I have a LeEquip juicer, which I love but there are a lot of good ones available. Mine takes less than a minute to clean. Also, you don't need to juice a large glass because you are getting a lot of vegies in a smaller amount.

Juicing doesn't necessarily eliminate the need for all vitamins, though. It depends on your age, medical conditions, what and how often you're juicing, etc.
But if you've never tried it, it is a great energizer!

Thanks to both of you for your comments.

Shadapra...I would love to have the name of the juicer that you recommend. From what I've seen, the good ones cost at least $200.00!!!

Thanks! :)

miriam, the name of my juicer is The Miracle Juicer, made by a company in Poland. It's really a very good juicer and has a 3 year warranty. I just found it on the net and one company is selling it for $95 (I paid $125 for mine 3 or 4 years ago). I guess the price has gone down because juicing is no longer the rage it was then.

Now you've got me interested in juicing again :) I think I will just have a glass or two a day, instead of trying to drink several glasses a day the way I was doing. I think that's why I got burned out on the work it involved with trying to make that much juice everyday.

As to being able to cut out your vitamin supplements, unless you are drinking several glasses a day, with lots of variety of vegetables and fruits, you will still need to supplement. But you should be able to cut back on the supplements. Good luck, hope you like juicing, and thanks for getting me interested in it again!
