I have been hearing alot about this supplement and it seems to have an excellent reputation for being almost a 'super' anti-oxidant. It enhances the anti-oxidant properties of A,E and C. Also promotes energy levels as well.

Has anyone used this and if so what for and what dosages?
Thanks...

aside from a great antioxidant, its supposed to be good for the liver. i use it with meals with carbs to shuttle them more efficiently into the bloodstream, rather than store it as far.

notice i said "more effiently", not totally. but wouldnt that be nice.

Thanks for the reply. Have you noticed any increase in energy?
And what dose do you use?

actually, it can make you lethargic, depending how insulin sensitive you are, but it has been know to increase energy. i would try a 100mg cap with a meal and see.

Lethargic? How could this be? I thought it was supposed to enhance energy by somehow properly utilizing the person's own flagging ability to do so.
I don't have diabetes or any sugar problems according to my labs done in February and never have had a problem.
Sorry for all the questions but I take quite a few supplements already and before I add another, just want to do my homework some. This is the best place to do that...

well maybe letharigic isnt the word, but if you take a high dosage, you can feel like you have low blood sugar. ive been taking it for about a year and a half now. if i take a higher amount of ALA as compared to the amount of carbs im eating, i feel a little tired.

when you take more ala than the amount of carbs for it to utilize, you can experience low blood sugar. so dosing it can be tricky. i think 100 mgs for every 30-50g of carbs would be a good place to start.

Okay that makes sense. I am strickly a fish person, about everyday,, with perhaps some chicken twice during the week. I eat no beef or any other meats and haven't in about 5 years. I eat an egg white omelet every morning as well. I eat rice, both white and/or brown everyday or a boiled or baked potato, pasta and noodles are also on the menu everyday. I have problems with all fruits except bananas, fruit upsets my stomach. I use olive oil only in cooking and only steam or bake my foods. No sweets, sugar, coffee or alcohol.

Thanks to this way of eating, my weight is right on target, super cholesterol and lipid levels, etc...however I would like to increase my energy levels and wanted to give ala a try. Now I am not sure if I will be eating enough carbs on this menu or not to begin to take it. I realize it is a high protein menu but until I started eating like this, I never could lose that extra 20 lbs. It just dropped off once I started eating differently....how do I figure out how much carbs I am getting based on what I am eating now?

i would take it with any meals with pasta, potatoes, rice, noodles. ALL of which are HIGH GI carbs. meaning they produce insulin quicker in the body. which for weight loss isnt the best. but overall your diet seems very sound. i would take 100 mgs with your biggest meals, maybe lunch and dinner. see if that gets your past your sticking point.

look into high and low GI (glycemic index) carbs. lower the better!

Terrific! You have been so great with all this imput. I didn't know there was high and low glycemic carbs, will have to look into that..and get into something lower.
Thank you so much, will have to watch for your posts here, you know your stuff....
