Hi,
I was just wondering if taking Centrum really does anything for you? Is it just a hype? Is it like taking placebos or something? I am starting to take it since I hate foods that are good for you. I am 26 and a male. I have been taking it for about a week, and everyday now I have to take a crap. Before I was taking Centrum, I would only have to crap once every 2 or 3 days. Is this good for me? Please help...
Thanks

If you do not have a real good diet then taking a multivitamin is definately something you need. I cannot comment on the quality of centrum vitamins since I have never used this brand but when you take a multivitamin if it doesn't make you feel better and more energetic then it isn't the right multivitamin for you. Since Centrum seems to be helping regulate your bowels then I would think that it is starting to work for you. Give it about 90 days and if you don't think it is doing the job it should then change to a different multivitamin. If you do feel a need to change be sure to use one with a money back guarantee so that if it doesn't work for you at least you can get your money back.

Taking a good multi-vitamin a day is a very good idea.
Vitamins are needed by the body to avoid defeciencies. In a perfect world you will get all the vitamins you needed from your every day foods. But if you don't have a perfect diet, are stress and eating fast foods; vitamins are very important.
Vitamins A, C, E, are good antioxidants
B-complex are needed for the nervous system, stress, energy, hair, help the body absorb protein.
Calcium & Magnesium for bones etc...
As far as Centrum goes, something is better then nothing. But Centrum is one of the worst multi-vitamins to take, because it contains low amounts of both vitamins and minerals. If you compare a bottle of Centrum to a kids chewable multi-vitamins, the kids vitamin wins. Centrum is all about the name, the company has market there product for so long, that when you think of vitamins you say Centrum. (good marketing)
Try going with the better know companies such as Twinlab, Solgar, Solaray, Nature's Plus.
Hope this helps!

I have heard that vitamins in hard pill form don't get as readily absorbed by the body. Actually, they tend to pass right through the body, and come out in bowel movements.
I actually took Centrum for quite a while, myself, and I didn't really notice any particular benefit from taking them. I am currently taking a soft gel multivitamin (a high quality brand), and I have noticed that they seem to improve my energy level, etc.

Centrum is probably one of the best mulit-vitamin/mineral supplements on the martket. I'm an amature bodybuilder(natrual) and I use Centrum(Centrum Silver) to help cover any vitamins, minerals, etc, I may have missed that day. It also helps keep me energized. Fitness4u must not now to much about dietary supplements to make an ignorant comment like that. Maybe he's in competition with Centrum and things arent going his way. Anyways, from what I have experienced, Centrum has worked the best for me. Give it a try. If it doesnt work, there's dozens of other mulit-vitamin/mineral brands out there you could try. GNC's another good one. =)
