I was talking to a friend of mine who is big into fitness and I asked him what vitamins would be best for over all daily use. He said pregnancy vitamins are the best you can get, but I heard that you can only get them prescribed from a doctor when your pregnant. Is this true, or are there vitamins like these available over the counter? Thanks!

Your friend is right. Prescribed prenatal vits are namebrand and expensive. I usually get the Target brand, those are the only over the counter prenatal vits that Ive found that have the folic acid in them. I have religiously taken a prenatal vitamin alongside my birthcontrol and various other herbs for 16 yrs. They are the best, in my opinion.

You can get prenatal vitamins in lots of brands. Just look for the ones that contain folic acid in them.

Thank you all for your replies! So I look for folic acid in them...do they have any special kind of name or just "Prenatal Vitamins"? Thanks again everyone!

They will say "Prenatal Vitamins" on the bottle.
