It's a great question, but when you look for info, different sources list different "Top 10's." But the following seem to be the ones that commonly come up in some way or another:

Kiwi, Guava, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Blueberry, Banana, Tomatoes, Papaya, Apricots, Sweet Red Pepper, Avocado, Mango

Also, they are good for different things and have different healing properties and nutrient combinations, and so it is important to get a fairly broad range of fruits in your diet. It is also more beneficial nutrient-wise and healthier for your body to eat organic as much as possible.

No difference nutrion-wise between organic & non-organic. The nutritional difference is in the ripeness when picked & the time beween picking & eating.

Well, it would be interesting to know what your source for that supposition is.

Fact is, the Soil Association in the U.K. just completed a study that showed a clear long-term decline in the trace mineral content of fruit and vegetables and found that on average, organic produce has higher vitamin C, higher mineral levels and higher phytonutrients – plant compounds that can fight cancer – than conventional food. This was attributed primarily to differences in soil fertility management and its effects on soil ecology and plant metabolism. Organic crops also contained significantly less nitrates (a toxic compound) than conventional crops, along with lower amounts of some heavy metals compared to conventional ones. Organic produce also contains less water than conventional produce; the higher water content also tends to dilute nutrient content.

Tests with people and animals eating organic food show it makes a real difference to health, and alternative cancer therapies have achieved good results relying on the exclusive consumption of organic food due to it introducing less toxics materials into the body and higher nutrients for health repair.

Well !'d have to know more about "their study" as the Soil Association is a particularly biased group with their own agenda who always discount "other studies" that reach a different conclusion than they do.

Btw, please name even one scientific heavy-hitter in the pro-organic food movement who has ever claimed eating organic produce will "cure" cancer.

I leave you with this quote from a keynote address given by Dr. Wm. Lockeretz at the 1997 international organic farming & nutrition conference:

"I wish I could I could tell you that there is a clear consistent nutritional difference between organic & conventional foods. Even better, I wish I could tell you the difference is in favour of organic. Unfortunately though from my reading of scientific literature, I do not believe such a claim can responsibly be made".

Dr. Lockeretz has been one of the scientific heavy-hitters in the pro-organic food movement for over two decades, was co-founder of The American Journal of Alternative Agriculture, as well as being Professor at Tufts University's Friedman School of Nutrition Science. If such person with the stature of Dr. Lockeretz IN THE ORGANIC COMMUNITY clearly isnt buying the organic- is-more-nutritious "story", why should I?

What about the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides that are routinely sprayed on conventionally grown produce? It has been proven that many of these chemicals DO indeed have negative effects on our health. DDT was once used on produce; now we know how dangerous it is. But even today, many of the chemicals used on conventional produce are just as dangerous. Every now and then it will be announced in the news that apples or apple juice are downright dangerous to consume because of high levels of pesticides. Recently, strawberries were in the news.

There just haven't been any long-term, scientific studies done on the nutritional differences between organic and non-organic produce. But the facts are that organic produce is grown in healthy soil that is full of naturally occuring organisms and minerals, while conventional produce is grown in dead, depleted soil that receives only man-made chemical fertilizers (which don't contain a full range of nutrients) and is treated with dangerous pesticides.

Which is healthier to eat? The answer is obvious to me.

as you will note, I was simply talking about "nutrition", not food "safety", though even there I do have to wonder how our life span keeps expanding upward while all these "dangerous" things are going on.

as to the ddt ban in the early 1970s, The World Health Organization estimates 500 million deaths worldwide from malaria...ddt has proven to be the only cost effective & just plain effective way to kill the mosquitos &flies bearing typhus...since the banning years. Even if that number was overestimated, that's still an enormous number of deaths. Since it was first used in WWII in areas where malaria was prevalent, ddt was undoubtedly responsible for saving thousand & thousands of servicemen's lives.

so i could better eat the ones who are organic produced, but still if i don't, it's still better to eat fruit than something else is it? i mean everything has something in it that's bad, but you can't starve yourself cuz of that, well im gonna try to get organic fruits then

"it's still better to eat fruit than something else is it?"

Most definitely. Fruits (and vegetables) are probably the healthiest foods you can eat, even if they're not organic. If you can't find organic (or can't afford it), be sure to wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly, and scrub the skins with soap and warm water if you will be eating the skin. This helps to remove pesticides and wax residues.

As to which fruits are the most nutritious, it's hard to say. Each fruit has its own array of nutrients, and scientists are 'discovering' new substances in fruits and vegetables all the time that were never even known about in the past. I would strive to eat a wide selection of different fruits, especially fruits that are 'in season' and/or locally grown, as they are usually the freshest.

hey thanks! well it's becoming winter over here so it's probably no season for any fruit! but that's okay, cuz there's still always fruit in the supermarket :)
