I am 17 years old, 5'8" and 140 pounds. I just started working out a month ago and only three days ago I got some tips from a bodybuilder that set up a routine to become thin and toned (something like Brad Pitt). He basically said for the diet part, that I can't eat carbs until right after my daily workout where I would eat around 85-100 g in liquid form (such as honey). I have been doing this for two days (although I have been cheating and putting honey onto a piece of bread) now and I realized that in these two days of this diet, I haven't taken one (for lack of a better word) "crap." Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Hi,
Well on the Atkins diet you dont get a lot of fiber. So you may want to try to take a fiber supplement..like metamucil or something along that lines. Dont take a laxative...take something natural.
But yes it is common. Now I eat these 0 carb chocolate bars that keep me regular. they have a laxative affect. But I would suggestion taking that fiber supplement.

No, its not normal. I mean, it might be a common side effect of the Atkins plan, but its not normal and its not healthy.
I would recommend NOT getting diet tips from this particular bodybuilder. If you want to follow the Atkins diet, then read the book.
To get your body regular again, you can take a laxative (natural, not chemical as Sinnrah said), or you can start working some green leafy, low-carb vegetables into your diet. Try a nice salad of spinach and romaine or some broccoli. And skip the honey. As far as I know, honey is just sugar and offers no other nutritional benefits.

Certain foods "clog" people. I'm one of them...I've always had problems with this. Doing Atkins doesn't help at all, since the cheese can be a huge factor. It is for me, anyways! What I do is add the green leafy veggies EVERYDAY! Lots of water too...keep things moving.

i do not think i understand you post... you said you have just started atkins but yet you are consuming 85-100 grams of honey in one eating session as well as bread? that is definately not atkins...that is a carb overload...
i assume this bodybuilder told you to take all this carb to replenish a depleted glycogen reserve? even then, your glycogen reserve would not be depleted unless you are doing some very intensive workouts...
perhaps you misunderstood and he really wanted you to have a protein snack after your workout...the amino acids from the protein in conjunction with the hgh produced during the workouts will repair the tissue damage done to the muscles during the workout...muslces must be worked to exhaution in order for the muscles to build...
