Hi everyone!

I am starting my Slim-Fast diet today (to my story: started healthier eating with Weight Watchers in November 02 - lost 27lbs (out of 56lbs to lose) - got bored lol and wanna try something for a few weeks before going back onto Weight Watchers)

... anyways lol I have been reading a few things about Slim-Fast and none of you mentioned the snack bars, basically I bought the shakes and meal replacement bars as well as some snack bars yesterday (not keen on the soups or pasta) and lots of fruit which will serve as snacks BUT lol is it good to have the snack bars at all or do they hinder/stall weightloss?

So far today I had one shake and a yogurt (320 cals) and I will try and stick to 1200 - 1300 cals a day - please let know wether the bars are ok to have "occasionally" ...

thanks for your help

Well, does it say how many calories are in the snack bar?

I think if you use it the way it's meant to be used--as your snack--that it's probably more useful than not. So, instead of your yogurt or fruit between shakes, you'd eat this snack bar. I don't think they will hinder your weight loss at all, so long as you simply use them as they are intended. It might be better for you to use them every once in a while, to vary up your diet and still eat the fruit, veggies, and small amounts of yogurt or something as a snack to give your body other nutrients that it needs.

Good luck with the plan, I love it and I hope that you're just as satisfied! Keep posting!

Hi!

I am new to this slim-fast plan and those snack bars are delicious (lol just taste like a normal choc-muesli bar) so I was just wondering ... Thanks for your reply and advise and yes I will use them once in a while.

So far today I am feeling well - have done my training and don't feel too hungry. I am off to eat in a bit and I am looking forward to that :-)

How much have you lost on slim-fast? How long have you been doing it? ... if you dont mind me being so nosy lol

There was another thing I was wondering about - I checked on the slim-fast website about the calorie-intake and all it says is between 1200 - 1400 calories a day. Now I thought I would try and stick between 1200 and 1300 I am 5'3 and weigh 144lbs at the moment. I exercise for about an hour a day (mon-fri, sat and sun off) - so is the amount I am taking in enough and appropriate? Any comments greatly appreciated ... :-)

Thanks again,

~Lisi~

I think 1200-1300 is a good range for caloric intake. That is my range, too.

I've lost 12 lbs so far, and I'm happy that I'm still motivated to keep going. I started Feb 1, and am doing mostly cardio 4x a week.

Some of those slim fast bars have an aweful lot of fat, maybe you should go to a vitamin store and look at some others. There are lots of varieties with more protein, less fat, and more vitamins.
