i just bought some russel stover sugar free candies, they are so good!! they say they have 21 g of carbs, 1 g fiber and 20 g malitol. does this mean they have 0 net carbs since malitol is a sugar alcohal?

That is the way Atkins and other low carb chocolate bars read. I just sent Atkins an email question as to whether these types of candy are okay during Induction. I'll post when I get the answer.

p.s. Have you tried the Atkins Endulge Peanut Butter cups and Caramel Nut Chew, yummy! Somehow I am doubting though that these are allowed during Induction, LOL!
