Hi,
Right now I am stuck. I can't seem to lose anything more then the 7-8lbs I lost in the first 2 weeks of Atkins. Don't get me wrong, I am sticking with this!
I am almost 5 weeks into this and don't want to give up! How can I, all of you are doing so well! I can't give up now! My goal is to lose 30lbs or so. I am still tired but I have a 4 month old baby so, I should be tired. The support here keeps me going! Thank you all for that!

Jo, I stalled after my first couple weeks of Atkins too. It will start coming off again -- just keep going!

I've lost 40 since Dec.10th and have about 40 more to go. I've hit a plateau over the last several weeks but I've seen so much success with this that I know it's only a matter of time. I feel great! In fact, I just took my daughters swimming for the first time over the weekend. I've been avoiding swimming suits for the last 8 years and although I'm no bathing beauty, I don't think I scared anyone out of the pool! It was their first time in a "big pool" and they had a blast. They are my motivation for doing this. I want to take them swimming, go to waterparks, run and play with them -- they deserve it! They are going to be turning 4 in another two weeks (my babies!) and now that they are old enough to get out and enjoy things, I'm going to be there with them!!

My husband is my other motivation. He's lost 50lbs (lookin good!) and I'm determined to catch up!

What a great thread to start! Who else has a motivation story to tell us???

Atkins since 12/10/02 -- down 40lbs!!

I think I may have hit a plateau. I lost a little over 10 pounds very quickly (just by eating healthier stuff) and now I have been at 145 for over a week. Grrr. I am trying for 130! But I am still motivated enough to exercise at least once per day! I guess that's successful!

I'm trying to get down to 130 too Froggie!!! I have a long road ahead of me...but im 15 down and 35 to go.

Hey guys if you hit a plateau, that just means that your body is getting used to what you're doing to it!! All you have to do is step it in a different direction a bit....do interval training instead of long distance cardio, jump rope instead of jogging, eat fruits instead of veggies or vice versa. Do something to shock your body back into FAT BURNING MODE!!!! :) You can do it!!! It's so much fun to try new things, and spice things up a bit! :P

Hey all...I am on LA Weight loss, and my goal is 120. I am currently at 179. I REALLY need some motivation because I keep giving in to the stupid cravings...=( HHHHEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!

I have problems giving in to cravings too!!! I'm sure most of us do, so you're not alone :) .

When you crave, do something else to replace eating to fulfill that craving. Talk a walk around the block, do house work, do something nice for yourself (hair, nails, makeup), or call a friend on the phone. Personally, I went out and bought a manicure set, and every time i get a serious craving, I sit down (far away from any food), turn on some music, and give myself some serious hand and nail treatment. It's time consuming, and it takes concentration, so it totally rips your mind off of food :) Another way is to take 30 min. and ask yourself why you really want to eat. Is it because you're really hungry, or is it because you desire a taste? Is it because you're bored? Once you find that out, decide whether its worth it or not to cheat and DELAY your weight loss further. :nono:

Hope this helps sweetie! :bouncing:

Hi:

I really think that anyone need motivation on their weight lose. I started to do my weight lose since 3-4 weeks. I gained about 20 pounds since last year and I only lost 6 pounds within this few weeks. I sometimes would like to quit but I would remind myself that i am not doing this for anyone but myself, my fitness and my health.
I been overweight since my childhood and I am in the point that i cannot go back. I am not sure when i would get to my goals (oh it looks forever) but I know if I try my best... one day I could do it.

Yesterday something funny happened, one of my co-worker said that i was working really hard since I look more skinner. She said to take the work easily. It was funny! but it is an encouragement for me.

I think drinking tea can help the craving and do not buy chips or fatty snacks.

Keep up the work

Meily

Hi everyone! Thought I'd stop in for a little motivation! I'm the type of person who needs a diet motivation boost about a dozen times a day! ;)

Didn't weigh myself this morning, but lost 3 pounds over the weekend (think I mentioned that in another thread) after cheating kinda badly - so I guess I got lucky! Of course, the exercise & tons of water helped, too!

My total weight loss goal is 20 pounds. So after the weekend, I've got 17 to go. I didn't really set a time goal, but I guess I'll go easy on myself & choose July 25 - that's when hubby & I are going to the beach for the weekend. That should give me PLENTY of time to lose another 17 lbs. Guess I should join the bathing suit club, huh?!!

I've been trying to cut back on carbs for my weight loss. Did Atkins induction awhile back & was semi-successful, but HATED it - too difficult for me! So now I'm just trying to be a bit more careful about carbs, not actually counting them. And I take a break on the weekend. But if I don't keep seeing results, I'm going to go back to counting calories. It worked for me 5 years ago, hopefully it would work again.

Anyway, I'm rattling on. Hope your diets are going well - try to keep that motivation strong! We're all in this together, so let's help each other out! Good luck, everyone!
:)

I'm intrigued by the statement:

"Hey guys if you hit a plateau, that just means that your body is getting used to what you're doing to it!!"

I've also hit a plateau. I've been diligently following my Slimfast plan and now in the 3rd week, I've lost nothing! In fact, I've gained half a pound. Talk about losing your motivation...I've been hungry all week and gained weight!!

So back to that statement - does anyone have some good anectdotal evidence that changing the routine can make a difference?

Semper,

I don't have any evidence, but I definitely believe it. The body will respond to any stress by adapting. I read somewhere that the adaptation can happen in as little as 2 weeks. I've been running 5-6 days a week and at the start of each week, I set the speed on my treadmill slightly higher than what it was the previous week. I'm certain this is one of the reasons I've seen steady weight loss and never hit a plateau. I know it's frustrating to have to keep changing your routine, but it really does work.

Wow, all of you guys are excellent motivation! I'm right in the middle of finals week in college....and I'm about ready to go crazy!!! Working out, dieting, and studying is such a hard combination. But I guess I have to endure....because why would I want to go back to being 15lbs heavier right? :round:

Good job guys, keep it up......if you fall a little...dont beat yourself up about it, its alright! Just dont fall all the way! Just get up and go at it again until you succeeed....AND YOU WILL!

Lets keep the motivation coming http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bang.gif

I'm not weighing myself until I get home from school (May 11th.). Then I'll know my exact rate of weight loss. Ugh. I wish I could just fit into my size 7 jeans again!!! I'm keeping them though, because I KNOW THAT I WILL FIT INTO THEM SOMEDAY SOON!!!

:) Keep it up guys.....dont let food control you, take control of your food!

Ok this is REALLY sad. Talk about embarassing. When I was in college...(my last few posts on this thread a few years ago) I weighed 165 and I was freaking out about it....I would kill to be 165 again. I hate to admit it...but I totally lost all control since I left college and I packed on weight. I just fell in love with food....and it became my #1.

Drum roll please....

I now weigh a whopping 205lbs. I'm so gross and flabby...and I even at 165 I was at least shapely...now i'm a blob.

Argggg! Here we go again....I HAVE to take this weight off. I'm dying inside.

Daisies, what are your plans about starting your weight loss?

onedaisiegal

WEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL......*sigh*

I started losing around Jan.5th. I was at 225 (heaviest ever!) and now i'm at 205....almost down past the 200 mark...which i'm excited about. Um, i'm just taking it easy and lowering my caloric intake and exercising 3-4 times a week....sometimes by playing tennis for an hour and sometimes riding a bike for 30 min.

I'm fed up with diet supplements, fad diets, stimulents, ketosis crap, chemical balances....blah blah etc etc. Some people can incorporate these kinds of things into their lifestyles, I cant. It's not normal to me. It feels unhealthy.

I just want to relax and live life WHILE i'm losing weight and it's working! I'm keeping it slow, low stress, sometimes fun, and definitely doable. I make sure the majority that I eat is of fruits, veggies, and lean meat. I also eat in moderation sugar, potatoes, and pasta. I also take potent multi-vitamin/minerals to make sure my body is healthy and nutritionally complete. My caloric intake is anywhere from 1200-1500 a day, depends on what I want to eat.

Being fat kills my spirit. It makes me feel tired, lazy, depressed, and heavy. It makes me feel like i'm digging an early grave.

The biggest problem I'm having right now is - i'm so anxious! :) Patience is the key with me and I have to concentrate on that.

 God bless all who are struggling with weight...we are all in the same boat together. Remember to stay patient, keep it realistic, and dont let it control your life :)

This is basicly what I been doing. 3 weeks for me lost 9 lbs, its not all that hard either, the fruits I eat like small apples ect,,ect, are ok and I try not to go over 1500 calories daily..I to am tired and sick of all the other so called diet fads.....the thing that worries me is after I get the fat off I'm affraid I''ll put it right back on twice as fast.....but guess I'll worry bout that if that time ever comes.
btw.. being fat makes me feel ugly inside and out.
good luck to you on your "newlifestyle'' of eating.
