It was an accident the way i happend to find this health board ...I was looking for info on leptoprin, But as i started to read some of the postings and felt i had to share the way i have lost most of my weight.
I have lost most of the weight by just not drinking anymore soda/sugarie drinks and cutting out the fried /fast foods..i weighed 205 pounds in janaury we are now in april and i am at 187 I am not exerciseing , But i am sure i could loose more if i did. I am a person that does not eat sweets but enjoys my fast food. Instead of the soda i have switched to water and insted of fried i am now doing baked broiled or grilled.....I guess my whole point to this is ...If we want to loose the weight we must stop trying to take an easy way out by taking these pills and just change the way we are eating......Try it! I invite you to take the challenge...

If that's all you had to do you are very lucky. I've eaten that way for almost a year and no weight loss - hypothyroid.

I wish it were that easy! I almost never drink any kind of soda except maybe a diet once a week. I eat no fried foods or drive thru kinds of stuff. With some of us it's innactivity. Also it's the sit down kinds of crafts. Scrapbooking,cross-stitch,crotcheting. Please tell me I'm not the only one.I am not at all a lazy type person either. Just everything that goes in the mouth stays on the body.

It Probably is doo~doo! That was funny. Have any special meaning to you? Hee, Hee!!! jk. Anyways thanks again for the support. I really appreciate you being tough on me in my other post. Anyways, you would be proud of me. I took the candy dish off my dest at work and I brought carrots & starwberrys & water to work today. I don't what to do with some of the stuff I have to eat at my house though. I have a very low budgett. Like I tried to find something healthy to eat for lunch and I couldn't find anything that I didn't have to cook for an hour. So I just took a bagel and light cream cheese to work for lunch is this okay? Be honest. But not brutal. It would mean the world to me. Much love Sunnie

good morning......well batgirl i've actually got a glass of water in hand. i haven't looked at a soda since i wrote my post last night. ITS KILLING ME!! but i guess it'll kill me either way. i need to get rid of atleast 25 lbs. i would love to lose more but i have to set myself at a realistic goal. i don't want to get depressed if i don't do it. i think 25 lbs by my birthday in august will be very possible. (if i can stay away from that d***n coke) well ya'll have a good day. i'll check back in later.

Look at your coke addiction in a more "losing weight" kind of way and it may help.
For example, if you drink 2 can of coke a day, that's 300 calories a day. In one week that's---2,100 calories. In one month that's---9,000 calories. In one year that's--109,500 calories. Each pound you lose takes 3,500 calories less food. If you just quit drinking coke you'd lose 31 lbs in the next year. JUST BY GIVING UP 2 COKES A DAY!!
If you drink 3 a day you'd lose a whopping 46 pounds in a year!!
You can do it. There are tons of drinks out there with no calories. Water, crystal lite, sugar free iced tea, diet sodas, V-8 splash diet, Sugar free koolaid, coffee, tea. I drink a lot of cinnamon tea with Splenda.
To me, the best diet soda is Dietrite as it is sweetened with Splenda. All the others are sweetened with nutrasweet. The Dietrite tangerine is yummy. :)

i don't think i've seen dietrite anywhere around here. i haven't bought myself any splenda, but i guess i need to. i'm trying to do this water thing without wanting to swim in it rather than drink it. it's just hard not do grab a coke out of the icebox when i know it is there looking at me. but i am trying.....i guess i need to start drinking what i give my kids. i don't type of soda or candy. they don't seem to mind it. i guess i could learn a thing or two from them. since i'm spending my weekend camping out at the beach and fishing, i'll only bring water and juices in my cooler. that way i am not tempted by the cry of my coke addiction. (unless i want to drive 15 miles to the nearest store) talk to ya'll soon. bye

I lost my weight doing the same thing as Batgirl almost except I exercise 3 to 4 times a week for 30 to 40 minutes so that way I can indulge in going to a nice restaurant once a week for broiled fish. I also drink on the weekends and love my pizza here and there so exercise is a must for me. I started January 2nd of this year. I was 217lbs and now I am down to 181 lbs. The problem is now I can't seem to lose as much weight. March and April average, I only lost 5lbs each month. I think I might need to get some sort of pill to get me going again. I didn't want to resort to this because I know I won't be taking a pill for the rest of my life and I want this to be a lifestyle change but I think it could be the only way to lose another 20lbs by June 28th which is the day I go to a Jimmy Buffet concert with friends. Plus my husband's 10 year high school reunion is coming up in June sometime too! Mine is 2 years from now so at least I won't have to worry about mine! Talk about taking off some pressure.
I have given up regular soda ages ago, like in high school. I just never really was a soda drinker to begin with. I wish I had the problem of drinking way too much soda because then all I would have to do is stop drinking it and then I would lose a lot of weight. If anything, I have a problem drinking too many calories on the weekends- I love my UV Rasberry Vodka with diet 7up and my diet coke with Malibu Rum. They make the drinks tall here too so one drink I am guessing adds up to 3 shots, but I could be wrong because the glass is filled to the top with ice. But one drink then is about 200 calories! If I have about 4 or 5 drinks, that is just as bad as drinking soda all day so I am trying to limit it to 3 drinks at the most.
Hi Dee, I know what you mean about wanting flavor sometimes in drinks. Lately I have been having a little bit of sugar free koolaid and Diet Brisk Tea in the cans. I think I am going to try finding that Diet V8 Splash. That sounds pretty good. =)

HEY DUSTBUNNYS:
Well to answer your question about the doo~doo thing , I was really upset with my husband one day and we were sending each other emails back and forth , back and forth. At one point i was so mad that at the end of the email i wrote...THAT ~THAT ~DOES~NOT~KILL~US~MAKES~
US~STRONGER.The clown that he is...he wrote back to me telling me how much he loves me and this and that , at the end of his email it said:
THAT ~WHICH~SMELLS~BAD~MIGHT~BE~DOO~DOO so when i read your grab by the horns comment , i thought of my husband and chuckled to myself as i wrote back to you..LOL
The candy dish thing, GREAT IDEA! I know you said you were working on a low budget but i have to let you in on a little secret ,(shhhh) don't tell anyone (lol)
It is also hard for me to find healthy foods that you are not able to cook at home , believe me i am with you on that one.But when i know i have to eat something and dont have the time to cook , i usually steal one of my husbands WEIGHT WATCHERS frozen meals as a substitute (lol) instead of doing a greater damage like a fast meal (like the bagel )But as long as you don't do the bagel thing everyday it should be fine...I dont believe in not eating what we don't want to eat ..let me tell you i loveeeeeeeee Pepsi , often when i loose a couple of pounds i will reward myself with a special treat ....You have to make sure that loosing the weight is not something that comsumes your life...it has to be something that you make self rewarding , it has to be all a fun thing not a taboo thing , like ohhhhhhh my god i know i just had that whopper i am soooooooo gonna gain 12 pounds , NO! look at it like , Ok i ate the whopper , so what?? And move on (don't make the whopper an everyday thing though.lol)but do you get my point???simply put :
JUST TRY AND MAKE IT FUN AND REWARDING!~

Don't think about it so much just try to focus on something else, like i told dustbunnys make it fun and self rewarding After you loose a couple of pounds reward yourself with a glass of soda, Don't just totally cut everything you really like out of your life, that is soooooooo boring!!And you will be sooooooooo unhappy.Let me tell you , you are talking to "MRS.PEPSI" OK?? But i must tell you ,when i stopped drinking the dag thing i felt like i drug addict i felt like i was going thru withdraws i felt sick , and with headaches, i guess my body was used to the amount of caffeine and it is going to make you feel sick (hopefully not) but don't quit . Once you get over the first couple of days , it is all downstream from there.TRUST ME !
On another note.....I don't believe in setting weight goals (that is just me)maybe i seem to work better knowing i don't have the pressure of not being able to have a certain amount of weight by certain amount of time ....that just works well with me ...I am losing at my own pace , without weight goals, without the pressure, anxiety, and everything ese that comes with it.Don't get me wrong , YES! i would love to be 125 pounds , Yes!.... IS THAT A REALISTIC GOAL FOR ME RIGHT NOW ...NO! .....All i am saying is i am sure you have enough to be stressed out about in life , don't let the weight be something else to be stressed about.

Hi Jpipes, I just wanted to let you know that I too was a soda addict, and if I tried to give it up cold turkey, I would fail miserably and probably end up binging in the end! I turned to Hansens natural sodas, calorie free, caffeine free - sweetened with Splenda! The kiwi-strawberry is really good, but there are other flavors. Also, diet rite is good too, with lots of flavors. You can find them at healthfood stores, and some regular grocery stores. You just don't want the sugar and caffeine you know? ...Hope that helps?! Good luck everyone!

I'm a total soda addict too. I quit completely when I decided to give up caffeine but then heard about the Diet Rite sodas. No sodium, calories, carbs, sweetened with Splenda, the whole nine yards. I still have to limit myself but it sure is nice to keep some of the things I love while loosing weight. I have sooooooooo much respect for those of you who have given in up completely!

Hey about that diet rite stuff, my friend wants to know if it has sacran or some artificial sweetener or flavoring in it. I can't remember the word right. But she said that a lot of diet drinks have it and it makes her sick. So if this didn't have that in it she would drink it. If that made any sense I would really appreciate a response. Dustbunny, Dietrite is sweetened with Splenda. Splenda isn't saccarine. It's a sweetener that's made from sugar, so it tastes like sugar. OK I read that from the box :)
To me it's good stuff. I use it in tea and also I use it to dip strawberries in or on cereal. Yummy!!
It comes in a box too. It's more expensive than the other sweeteners but a box will last quite a long time.
Diet V-8 splash is sweetened with Splenda also. Although the splash isn't calorie free, it's nearly calorie free with only 10 calories per 8oz cup.
For those asking about the Dietrite, our Walmart sells it. They also sell diet Yoohoo. Boy that stuff is good. It's a chocolate flavored drink. It has 70 calories per bottle but worth every calorie. :D

please please help!! i don't understand what i'm doing wrong and how all of you guys are loosing all that weight in such little time. it's great for all of you but in my case it's taking soo long!!! i've been on jenny craig since dec till now, and i've only like lost 10 lbs.!!! that's it!! and i'm pretty active where i'd workout about 3-4 times per week for about 40mins cardio...i would take step classes, swim for an hour, or run or do the eliptical. my eating habits are: i don't drink soda, ocasionally eat chips, not a huge fried foods fan, and really don't eat things that are fatty. so i don't know what i'm doing wrong guys!! i'm 5'0 and right now at 173 lbs. i don't know how i'm going to loose all this weight!! please help with anyone with advice. i've really considered atkins after reading all the threads and success stories but i'm a huge veggie and fruits fan!! so anyone out there with suggestions please reply!!

I agree with kemi - you need to rule out possible medical conditions. Have you talked to your doctor?

Yes, you would have to stay away from fruits if you tried Atkins - but if you'll read up on the diet, you'll see that you can have something like 3 cups of veggies per day - not too bad, huh? Yes, you're limited to certain veggies - but you're given quite a big list of them to choose from.
Whatever diet you use, I wish you the best of luck! Let us know how you're doing!

Agapelove-chances are that you are losing fat but gaining muscle - fat has more volume pound per pound than muscle mass. Are your clothes fitting you differently? I heard that if you are doing steps, cycling high resistance working out you tend to bulk up. It helps to do freemovement like areobics, dancing-especially twisting-good for the abs/belly. just remember rapid repetative light weight resistence if you want to lose overall weight.

Hey Batgirl,
Here's a good question for you. I have been eating those healthy choice and smart ones meals for lunch everyday this week. Are these good choices for meals on the go? They are really good and low in calories. I don't know though, what do you think? Much Love Sunnie

Dear Dustbunnys:
Great question , I think they are awsome, they have not only helped me eat less ,But monitor what foods i eat ...Ok let me tell you before i used to eat maybe 2 plates of food , i used to serve myself and keep eating until i felt like i wanted to throw up! ...When i started changing my diet around i found that the weight watchers meals were not only great for my crazy schedule but at the same time they were allowing my stomach to get used to eating smaller portions , after about 2 months i started eating less and less .I atribute alot of my weight loss to eating less and eating the right foods, like you asked me one day was the bagel you took to work ok???well it is not bad just as long as you don't do it everyday ....but yes the meals are great if you don't have the time to make something healthy to take to work .GOOD LUCK! & KEEP IN TOUCH !

Congratulations to everyone who has been able to lose weight! Any weigh loss is a magnificent thing and it makes us feel so much better about ourselves :) I dont think anyone needs to resort to taking any diet pills, and personally I dont think they even work. One effective weight loss method that I am using right now is the Atkins Diet. Has anyone tried it? I find it to be very effective and easy. Good luck to everyone in their quest for weight loss! We can do it if we try :)

Dear Karen:
Thanks ! and i agree with you ...we do not need to use these pills that problably have not even been aproved to be used for long periods of time and have no idea of the after effects it might cause.
No i have not tried the atkins diet ...that one is not for me ....i would fail over and over again on that diet , RICE is my addiction ...GOOD LUCK THOUGH !

I have to agree with the water with lemon. My husband and I upped our water intake by keeping those plastic lemon/lime juice containers in the fridge. We sweeten everything now accordingly. The processed sugar is the first thing that has to go ladies ;) But then...sounds like you knew that!
Good luck!
Good luck!
