Just wanted to let you all know that apple cider vinegar will really help you loose weight(among other good things that it can do for your health). Here is the deal:

Mix 2 tablespoons of cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of honey into a half a glass of warm water and drink this mix 3 times a day at least 1/2 hour before meals.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what I do :) Except I mix it with grapefruit juice since it also helps with weight loss! And I took away the honey, and I don't add any artificial sweetener either because the grapefruit juice is sweet enough for me..

Also in Woman's World this week is APPLE CIDER Benifits.

They call it an Apple Cider Cocktail. 2 tsp. cider with 8 oz water. They don't say anything about honey. Although I'm sure the honey would make it taste better.

Also a recipe for salad dressing.
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tsp. raw honey
1/3 cup olive oil
1-2 minced garlic cloves
1 tsp. fresh herbs ( basil, tarragon, dill and oregano)
Shake it up!

RUB AWAY CELLULITE

3 parts organic apple cider vinegar to one part massage oil and kneed it in to the bulges daily.

The honey is there to cut the acidity a little bit. Water is an acid(relatively weak one) and so is vinegar(stronger acid)and the two combined can be too acidic for most people's stomack. But, honey is also beneficial for your health. So, this is a very balanced drink. It not only makes you loose weight, but also makes your skin look really good, improve your memory, etc, etc. My grandma has been taking this since she was 20. She is now 77, never had any major health problems, and looks like she is 57. She credits that to this drink. So, drink to your health.

I'm curious..how does this make you lose weight? Does it serve as a diuretic (sp?-sorry!)

I'm not sure it is true but I read that the apple cider vinegar forces your fat into your bloodstream so that you can burn it. I'm not sure how but I read it in one of those prevention booklets.

I've been taking the cider vinegar pills for about 5 weeks, and have lost 7 pounds.
It has lowered my blood pressure and I have been able to discontinue taking one of my pills. Has anyone else had their B/P lowered taking cider pills?

Hey Everyone,
This post really intrigued me. I went out this morning and bought a bottle of apple cider vinegar. I'm going to try it as of today. I really hope it helps with the weightloss.
Does anyone know why you have to take it before meals? Does it curb your appetite or something of that nature. Also, is there a difference between the pills vs. the actual vinegar.
Thanks All, I'll let you know how it goes. I sure hope I can drop the 7 pds.
Take Care,
Tart

Skylan,

What brand of apple cider pills did you use??

Vlasik

Apple cider makes you loose weight by making your body burn more fat and faster.
Yes, it is true that it can help you with you blood pressure. Keep taking the drink mix that I wrote about and it will help keep your BP in control.
The pills work, but most people agree that they get better(weight loss) results by using it in the liquid form mixed with water. I lost 10 pounds a year ago by taking pills, and have been taking the drink since then. I eat all I want and don't gain weight. If I eat like this and don't take the drink, I start gaining weght.

Caligirl,
I bought mine from the health food store. Doesn't taste that good. But hey, it will taste better knowing that I'll be losing the weight.

Vlasik
05-23-2003, 12:25 AM
you can buy it at the supermarket(HEINZ brand) or at health food stores. Some people say that the one from the health food stores is better because it is not filtered and has the "mother" in it. My grandmother takes this for years and uses Heinz. I lost weight using Heinz too. Never bought the one from health food stores.

I had great results using the heinz brand. I lost 5 pounds the first week, and 3 to 4 pounds the weeks thereafter. After I acheived my ideal weight, I kept taking the drink(i am still taking it) and eating whatever I wanted at the same time. I am still slim, and plan to keep drinking this. To answer your question, yes, I lost inches too. My body changed a lot.

Sorry I took so long to answer.
I bought my vinegar pills at Wal-Mart, Natures's Bounty-200 tablets-600 mg Apple Cider Vinegar per 2 tablets. I take 2 to 3, 3x daily.
Yesterday I bought a jar of raw unprocessed honey, straight from the bee hive and I'm going to get some natural vinegar from the health food store. I'll take both, anything to keep me off the blood pressure medicine.
Honey is loaded with Vitamin B's, and the raw is much better for you.
Hope everyone has the good results I had>

A few people I know has said that acv is good for many uses including weightloss. I am going to try the acv and honey method. I just want to know do you do anything else along with it to get results. If I walk (Leslie Sansone) and use the acv is that sufficent. how about drinking water? Because of the hectic work day I have drinking 8+ glasses of water is problematic. What is the recommendation.

You can find the drink that everyone is talking about posted in the begining of this forum. I recommend that you mix with water and honey as described. Not only it is more gentle for your stomach that way, but also because of the good benefits you can get from the honey. You should take it 3 times a day at least half hour before meals. Let me know if you have more questions.

I have never heard of this drink interacting with jasmim or my other BCP. My friend has been on jasmin for a while, and she takes this drink. She never had a problem. I take ortho-cyclen and the drink, and never had a problem. I would not worry about it. However, you may want to talk to your doctor just to be on the safe side.

Different brands have different % of acidity. My grandma always bought heinz. I use heinz and got great results with it. I tried other brands and the ones from health food stores that are unfiltered and still contain the mother but I did not like it(not as great as heinz). Since you already bought it, you may want to use it and then next time buy heinz and decide which one you prefer.

If you exercise while taking the acv, you should get great results. That best thing to do it to have a healthy diet, eat moderate portions, and exrecise along with taking this drink. You should always try to drink water no matter what. I know it is not easy(I have a hard time doing that too), but try to do that. Originally posted by Jendayi:

Hi All,
I've tried ACV since reading the beginning of this thread. It has been 3 days. Now, I don't know if this is just my imagination, but I am finding I am less hungry, have less cravings and can't polish off my plate of food the way I used to.
I think i can attribute this to ACV, since I haven't been doing anything differnently. Haven't noticed weightloss yet (think it's too soon), but so far, a good change in my eating and craving habits.
Wishing all my ACV pals good luck!! lets keep each other posted on how it's going.
OH, I'm taking 2 teaspoons in one glass of water once per day.
Bye for Now.

Hey everyone,

For all of your who do not like apple cider vinegar, or don't want any carbs.. heres what you can do.

8 oz water
1 tbls lemon juice
2 tbls apple cider vinegar
(If desired add splenda, stevia or honey) 1 tsp honey is about 3 carbs

With this you can barley taste the acv since the lemon juice hides it so well. If you add honey, it taste like lemonade!

I bike ride or do the stair climber 35-60 minutes 5-6 days a week. I eat 5 smaller, healthy meals each day, and 30 min. before breakfast lunch or dinner I have my acv drink. My meals consist of Lean meats, nuts, fruit, vegetables, whole wheat pasta, 100% whole wheat breads (not enriched), and fat-free or reduced fat dairy.

My meal plan:

Breakfast:
acv drink 30 min before
30 carbs (100% whole wheat bread, or peice of fruit)
12 protein (1 whole egg, two egg whites, and 1 slice of extra lean ham)
4 fat (almonds, or butter)
(or.. 1/3 cup oatmeal w/ 2/3 cup water) eat with either 1 tsp honey, stevia, or splenda, and cinnamon. On the side have about 1/3 cup skim milk.

Lunch:
avc drink 30 min before
40 carbs
24 protein
8 fat

(ie turkey/ham and fat free or reduced fat cheese sandwich on 100% whole wheat bread) Use fat free mayo, and add tomatoe slices, cucumber, lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, peppers, onions, mushrooms, if desired.) eat with small salad w/ low fat or fat free dressing

Snack:
20 carbs (ie.. one peice of fruit)
12 protein (2 slices turkey meat)
4 fat (ie 5-6 almonds or 1 tsp almond butter or natural peanut butter)

Dinner:
20 carbs (ie vegetables) I try not to eat breads or pastas at dinner
24 protein (ie chicken, pork chops, fish)
8 fat (olive oil, butter)

Snack:
20 carbs
12 protein
4 fat

I have done it this way for a long time and lost weight, but I started up acv again and lost 6 lbs in about 1 week. :) It is quite much, and its not healthy to lose that much in such a short time. It should be more around 2-3 lbs a week. But anyways, It seems as though on this diet I can just eat eat eat, and I love it! But if you eat healthy, you can eat as much as I do!

ACV sounds like it's worth a try, but for you that were asking about using it with prescrip meds this should always be checked with the Doc or Pharmacist. If ACV works I'm sure it would only be better with a balanced diet, exercise, and lots of good ole H2o! If you do these things then when you've lost the excess weight, you've gotten into great habits that could take you thru a long time of not worrying about regaing that weight! GOOD LUCK!

That is right. You will not be able to eat as much(in terms of quantity) as you did before. You will feel hungry the same way, but once you start eating you will feel full faster then you used to before you started taking the acv. That is a good sign. Keep at it.

I did not exercise because I am so lazy. I should have, but I didn't. If you are able to exercise do it. Even if it's just a walk everyday. Yes, the acv drink will make you eat less. you will feel full faster. you will still feel hungry, but once you start eating, you will feel full faster than before. That is a good sign. Keep at it.

You do not need the honey, if you don't want it. If you are on a low carb diet you can do just acv and water, and add some lemon juice to take some of the acv taste away.

As for meds, I think I read somewhere that it is ok to take acv with them. But, I have heard not to take acv with grapefruit juice if you are on meds. Although, I would suggest not to just rely on my info and just ask a professional.

I tried it with the lemon and honey but all I could taste was the ACV. I didn't even swallow, I had to spit it out. HELP!!!

Luvpeace- I have taken it with lemon and I seem to be doing fine. Grapefruit juice is also acidic, and you take it with acv. So I would assume it would be ok, but I am not positive.

Ladybug- The reason for taking it 30 min before is because it curbs your appetite and you don't eat as much. Does it say on the bottle that the directions are for weight loss? If not, then it could be for different reasons. Sometimes I forget to take it 30 min before and end up drinking it right before my meal, and it still works.

A few questions here...doesn't mixing lemon juice with vinegar cancel each other out? I mean, lemon juice is an acid but vinegar is alkaline. Don't they interact to neutralize each other out? Doesn't that affect the ability of vinegar to work (if it works)?

Also, doesn't drinking the acv make you stink of vinegar thru your pores and breath? I remember I used to work with a receptionist many years ago who drank it all day. She was overweight and was drinking it to try to lose weight but I hated being near her because she totally REEKED of vinegar all the time. Of all the postings, I'm not clear whether the pills work just as well for if it has to be the liquid form. Of those who are using acv now, do people complain of the smell? Please advise. Thank you very much.

texiciana- I really don't have an answer for you there. I would think that if its in your system, its in your system no matter what "acid" foods you eat/drink. But I don't really know..

Was this lady you worked with drinking it straight from the bottle? I don't think I'm getting enough for myself to smell that strong. I 've never had any complaints from anyone that I stink.. so maybe she just drank too much, obsessed about it, thinking the more she drinks, the more she'll lose.

The purpose of the honey is mainly to make the drink more gentle to your stomach. Whithout the honey this drink can be too acidic to your stomach. Some people have tried it without the honey and they tolerated it well. However, if you are taking this drink on a regular basis, and especially if you plan to take on a long term basis, then you should always add the honey to it. The problem is that the if you take it without the honey, the acidity of the vinegar and water mix may create stomach problems for you. Vinegar is an acid, and so is water(weaker acid)and the conbination of both will still give you an acid ph. Lemon juice is also an acid(citric acid), and if you combine this 3 acids is just too much for your stomach. You will have to take this drink for a while in order to loose weight. And there is no point in losing weight and getting stomach problems right? So please consider adding a bit of honey to your drink.

It makes your body burn more fat and faster. It also curbs your apetite provided that you drink it before meals(preferably 1/2 hour before).

Acv will not make you stink if you are taking the quantity advised on this board. Now, the woman that you are talking about probably drank a lot of it straight from the bottle. If you take the drink that I mentioned you will not smell at all. I have been taking it for years and never smelled.

Hey All,
Got another question. As I mentioned earlier, I have been on ACV for 4 days now, and am finding it's helping to curb the appetite and also my cravings for carbs...this is a good thing!!
BUT.....I was just wondering does taking this drink daily (you know with the water/honey) harm or affect in any dangerous way one's upper gastron. intestinal tract because of acidity/alkaline properties in the vinegar????
I don't know if my family dr. would even know how to answer a question like that.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?? Thanks.

I started the Acv drink today but only used 1 tbsp of honey instead of 2. It really burned my throat..I used hot (very warm) water to make it like tea. I think tomorrow I will use 2tbsp of honey to cut the acid some more. Also, is this common.... I had a lot of gurgling in my stomach today and a lot of gas and burping...is this the Acv??? will it go away?? Any suggestions would be great! P.S I normally have a sensitive stomach to strong food/spices/harsh things.

I know what you r going thru.It hurt my throat when I had my first drink. But the thought that this drink may aid in burning of my stored stubborn fat I just did not bother about the tangy taste..I just took it.And now I like the taste of it..You can slowly sip it..in that way ACV wont feel too strong or u can use straws...goodluck..

Since your stomach is too sensitive then do take 2tbs spoon of honey with ACV as suggested by Vlasik and others. And pls do take it with warm water it will be much more gentle on your thoat and stomach. And if it still does not work you can increase the amount of water to one cup instead of 3/4 th cup.Others pls do correct me if am misleading jodimarie.Goodluck...

I am new to this site and I saw this thread, I was very interested and went out and got myself some ACV and honey. I got home eager to try it but when I tasted it, well all I can say is that it it wasnt very nice at all! After reading all the threads I noticed that it doesnt really say how much water you should mix it with. Like one person mentioned I made it as if I was going to have a cup of tea and I let it cool down; but I found that a cup of this stuff is way too much for my taste buds and stomach to handle. Would it be ok if I just mixed it with as little water as I can and just down the stuff in one go?

I really hope this will work for me as I have tried all sorts of other stuff with no success :( Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You wont believe Kim am eager to weigh myself.I cud have done now but am scared to face the disappointment even though I have real good vibes about it.I started this on saturday I guess (I need to confirm from my prev messages I posted on board) so am planning to weigh myself on this saturday or latest sunday jus' to b on safer side.Yep I dont feel like eating much and even if I eat after a small portion I feel full. Not that am bad eater but yet this is helping me out.I jus' hope internally its doing all the work it needs to...burning of all my stubborn fat cells..hey u can ask as many querries as u want as long as it aids u in weight loss. But do me a favor please do start on your ACV diet..u dont have to wait on me to know whether it will work for u.Who knows it mite work for you as it did for others..I know any good news will inspire u like it did for me when i read abt Vlasik
and others...I will definitely post my results once I weigh (+ve / -ve) but I just dont want you or anyone to get discouraged by my results if it did not work for me......but i definitely feel its working for me...good luck KIM...

Luvnpeace,
I've been on Slimfast for almost 8 1/2 weeks now. I've lost 17.5 lbs so far. I'm trying to lose 8 more lbs. (started Mar 25 at 170.5# - current 153#) I wanted to try ACV for a couple days to hopefully help me get off this plateau I've been on for 5-6 days. I took your advice and drank it 3x's today. Yuck!! However, I'll try anything once. (smile) As far as Slimfast, well I really LOVE it. I think it tastes great, especially because I have a sweet tooth. The shakes are great, especially when blended w/ice & frozen fruit and I LOVE the meal & snack bars. It just really works for me!!! It is such an easy & flexible diet plan. I LOVE IT!! I can't believe I've lost 17# in only 2 months. This is the first time I've lost this amount of weight without diet pills. WOO HOO!! I am truly MzDietQueen....will try even the extreme!! (he-he) Oooh that kinda rhymed. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif Good luck over the weekend with the ACV. Be sure to let us know how it works for you. I'll do the same.

wow thats real cool.CONGRATS!!!!!.Good for u..Am in process of loosing 20 pounds and am no where yet.Hope this ACV helps. So u take SL as meal replacements if u do let me know so that I can replace some of my meals with it.And may be SL and coupled with ACV will let me reach my goal faster. But did u loose inches. You see am not that keen to loose weight but to loose inches on my lower part especially my biig fat thighs and that frustrates me a lot.Day before s'day I did some lunges and here am crippled with pain and can't excercise for sometime before my pain vanishes and I get dread feeling that I mite be adding pounds and inches as am not moving..let me know abt your SF success in inches then I mite go for some more shopping...wow weekend is getting real real closer...am scared what the scale is going to show...hey vlasik hope am lucky as u..GOODLUCK EVERYONE.....

I tried the pills once and they did not give me great results. The liquid, yes, it was like magic for me. But try your pills and see how it goes. If you decide to go back on the liquid, try using a straw, or maybe not using as much water so that you can down it very quicky. Let me know how it goes. Good Luck! Originally posted by cubbymommy:

I just started drinking the ACV this morning and was quite suprised with the taste I actually like it , it is real refreshing and I could tell it had cleansing properties right away, I just mixed it with cold water,
I am using the Bragg's Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar,
I am nursing my 4th child so I am curious to see if he notices a change in taste with my breast milk but so far he doesn't seem to be bothered by it,I found the suggestion for this drink ~I omitted the honey~ online after looking up heart disease and other womans health issues after watching an Oprah show and although I have lost all my baby weight from this child I am still carrying 10 pounds each from my other 3 ~sigh~
I will post later to inform you of any weight loss

Wow!!!!!!! thats lot of facts abt ACV.Am sure thanx to u jodimarie75, mindspin, vlasik, QweenyBluEyes
and others with this info we will all be more encouraged to stick with ACV.Am glad I made a wise decision and I hope others will too.

Well I stood on my scale this morning and I found I lost 3-4 pounds inspite of me not able to walk or excise for 4 days and not taking ACV regularly (i.e..when I was subjected to eat outside while selecting fornitures and doing heavy shopping). So I feel this is a good sign.I have 15 more to loose. And am sure if I progress each week in the same way I mite loose by independece weekend.Wow wish I cud then I can get a new wardrobe for myself in long weekend sale...Am I hoping TOOOOOOO soon...ok let me wait and see...thankx guys for motivating, encouraging and supporting me.Hope I go on shedding instead of gaining.

CONCLUSION: ACV DID WORK (I bought HEINZ brand from local food store as suggested by vlasik and bought 2 more this weekend as one is jus' enuf for week.)

Also, my husband has a lot of trouble with acid indegestion, and is also wanting to lose weight. I am going to show him this thread, and try to convince him of trying this with me. just a quick note, the other night when I was looking up sites on health and when I came across the ACV cocktail it claims in two mths it will shrink your waistline by one inch and in 4mths you will lose 2 inches and so on,,it also said to drink the ACV for 3wks then take a week off so your body doesn't get to use to it, I cannot remember the site but was just thumbing thru my journal and had written that down in it, also another drink was v-8 juice with a dash tabasco and a sprinkle cayenne pepper 3x;s a day

I was wondering the same thing. I don't mind the taste of it, but if I could drink it with more water, it would taste much better!! I did talk my husband into trying it with me. I was just told that my Aunt had tried this, and she lost at least 30 pounds!! That gives me more hope with this. Hubby and I are even going to start packing it in the diaper bag to take with us whenever we leave the house for times when we are eating out or at someone's house. I don't see why it would be a problem to mix up a batch and keep in a tightly closed bottle, the honey and ACV are shelf stable, so I don't see where it would pose a problem to keep some handy. If I am wrong about this, please correct me.

Well, I just bought a bottle of acv and I am on Day 2. Two tbsp of acv w/ about 2-3 tbsp of water and chug it down as fast as I can. It tastes terrible and it stinks terrible but its worth a try since I have like 25 lbs to lose before Aug 16.

I need to ask: is everyone SURE that the acv pills don't work? I'd much rather take them than drink this stuff.

Vlasik

you should not dilute it that much because then the concentration of vinegar that you are getting is not enough to properly burn fat. the ideal ios 2tbls of acv with 8oz of water. you can put 2 tbls of acv and less water so that you can drink it really fast. Originally posted by libby:

I don't care much for the taste either, but it is the smell that kicks in the gag reflex for me. I use as little water as possible in the mix and hold my nose while drinking it.

I was wondering the same thing...I know that they are shelf stable seperate, but when mixed together are they still ok...at least for a few days? Does anyone know the answer to this?

Hey! Okay, I use to take ACV tablets, it really does wonders for the skin and gives you a natural energy... but I switched over to ACV in the natural form several days ago... there is a big difference in the energy boost you get!!! It also helps to keep you regular (if ya know what I mean)... I do mix my 2 tblsp with my Ruby Red, that way I get my grapefruit and vinegar... both I like to have 30 minutes before i eat, I eat fruit on an empty tummy, and consider my grapefruit juice my fruit.. so that may help with my energy? Who knows... Also, the strong taste of both blend well and make it bearable!!!!

Sweetdreamer I did read in some net articles that sum peoplep who buy the ACV store product that does not have mother in it they try to mix vinegar and honey and store it for a while to ferment and let mother(whatever develop) for speedy weight loss and hence I guess we can very well stock it in bottle..PLEASE PLEASE DO CORRECT ME IF AM WRONG...I DONT WANT TO MISLEAD ANYONE..GOODLUCK!!!!!!!

guys i think that you can carry your mix with you. As long as it is for a few hors, I mean, a wrkday, then it shoud be fine. Just make sure you make when you are leaving home and store preferably in a glass botle. I know some people have kids and that is not a good idea, but plastic is just polymers that are not great at conserving the properties of the drink. Plastic is just cheaper.(chemist talking). So anyway, if you need to take your drink with you, then try to use a glass botle. if you do not have one, then plastic will have to be. Go for it.

Thanx a million vlasik.Jus' to get used to already mixed up drink..s'day I mixed up the drink and stocked it in bottle and surprisingly I found the taste and smell better.Yep am too panicky abt the glass bottle but you are right abt the polymer and plastics may react to the acidity..will try to find some unbreakable glass bottle for easy and safe carry out.

I have to bring this up again...I was really encouraged by everything that was said here and went out and bought some. (heinz acv)

However I took 2tbsp in 8oz of warm water and at first I was okay with the taste and by the middle I was starting not to like it and by the end I almost "got sick" (to put it nicely) For about 10-15 min I felt like I could get sick at any time.

I am still wondering is it 2 teaspoons or 2 tablespoons? I have seen it listed both ways, here and other websites. I agree with what someone said earlier as to WHY you dont feel like eating! Bleh!
Please help...I wanted to give this a try but....

Hi luvpeace,
it is safe to take the drinks and the pills at the same time. I did that for a while and it was fine for me. I only took a bottle os pills that I bought from GNC, and did not bother to buy more and continue. It was just an extra expense that I did not want to have :-)

i have a question ..
i know its probably better to drink the acv drink warm because drinking warm liquids make u feel much more fuller than a cold beverage.

my question is..does anyone just drink it cold, perhaps, make it beforehand, let it cool, put it in the refrigerator and drink it cold ?
and are the results slower or the same as the warm acv drink?

today since i didnt have acv, i just used plain vinegar and some apple juice which i diluted with water.. the plain vinegar has the same acidity as the acv so since i didnt have the acv today..just decided to use the plain for today.

thanks in advance for any replies

I have to drink it cold ~ i even use ice , I tried it warm when I put the honey in it but then it was just gross , to me when its cold its more of a refreshing drink, so I drink it without honey
and I will never ever use regular vinegar ever again for cooking purposes!! they make it out of coal~ tar
I can't remember if its both or one of them but that can't be healthy, I also read something on margrine and now that blobby stuff is not in my kitchen either ~~scary~~

It is best to drink it warm because warm drinks make you feel fuller faster. Also, if it is warm the honey(for those of you who are using honey)dissolves better. The higher temperature sort of makes the honey"melt" and mix with the other ingredients in the mix.

ok guys, i've been looking here for a while and seeing that you are having some results, i think i'll give it a try! there is something i need to add, it may have already been mentioned?...i did a search on "apple cider vinegar diets" (make sure you use spaces in between words) and i read that if you ommit the honey you could end up with arthritis or brusitis, because without the honey something can crystilize in you and mess up your joints. and you can also develope a potassium deficiency? do a search and tell me what you think. the story is about a farmer and some hens and childern. i am going to try it and i am going to add the honey! if i get all stiff in my joints i won't be able to do the most important thing...exercise. i hope i have the results that you all are seeing!!!....Mtn

I just wanted to let everyone know a really good recipe for a salad dressing made with apple cider vinegar:

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup pulp-free orange juice
1/2 to 1 tsp basil

just mix it together and it makes a really good salad dressing.

I also read that you are supposed to drink 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar per cup of water for it to be most effective. The article that I read said that the level of effectiveness stops after 1 tablespoon so using more than that is just a waste (and hard on your tastebuds.) I lost about 20 lbs a couple years ago using acv and diet/exercise. One thing that I noticed is that if I took it before bed it really seemed to clear out my system. I took it before meals and right before I brushed my teeth before bed (that way the taste goes away quickly.)

For the people wondering about taking it while traveling: It works well to buy the small size water bottles and pre-mix it. I do that for my lunch at work.

It is 2 TABLESPOONS. That is the recipe that I have always used and helped me loose weight. It might taste better to just use 2 teaspoons but that is not enough for weight loss. Also, for those wanting to get pills, please make sure that they have AT LEAST 600MG in them. That is the minimum concentration required for weight loss purposes. Good luck with the pills.

Hi all,

Well, I've been taking 2 TBSP 3x/day for a week now. I suffer from gastric reflux and have to take a stomach pill for it. Yes, the acidity is quite strong so what I have been doing is eating a snack immediately after taking the drink. I know it says to wait 1/2 hr before eating but I can't. Eating a small snack helps cut that burning sensation quite a bit. I've lost 4 lbs this week. I am planning on buying the pills for my purse.

Hi there,

No, I am not selling anything at all. I started this post because I used to be overweight and tried many things. My grandmother had been taking this thing since she was in her 20's(she is now 78) and she told me about it. I tried it, and to my surprise it worked. It has become my miracle potion, and I am so thankfull to it. So much that I tend to brag about it. I still take it and it has helped me to keep my ideal weight. I felt that I should share my experience with others on this board. Trying to loose weight is not an easy task, and it is always good to hear about other's experience.

I understand your frustration. It must really feel bad for you. ACV is natural but acidic, which is why the HONEY SHOULD ALWAYS BE ADDED to this drink in order to cut down the vinegar's acidity. By doing this, the mix will be a weak acid(with a much lower acidity ph level)that should not be bothersome for people with a normal gastrointestinal track. However, for cases like yours, even the weakest acid might cause some discomfort(i am sure you know much more than i do about that). I believe that yes, it must feel like a burning sensation for you. That makes sense in your case. In my opinion you should stop taking it. It would be great if it was ok for your stomach, but it does not seem to be. I am not a doctor, so you may want to ask one about ACV and your stomach. A doctor will be able to give you better advice on this. I am just a chemist(and by the way, I hope I did not get too much into chem talk with all that acidity stuff)and do not have an in depth expertise of the physiological aspects of taking ACV(which are a bit different for each one of us). I hope this ACV did not upset your stomach too much, and that all is back to normal. Good luck on your weight loss. Keep posting.

Texciana,

Please make sure that you add the honey to the drink. It will cut down the acidity and be more gentle to your stomach. If you still experience some discomfort even after adding the honey, maybe you should consider stop taking this drink. Since you have acid reflux, this may not be a good idea for you(even though it is a weak acid provided that the honey is added). But maybe the honey will make it better for you. Hoping it will. Let me know.

"Keep Joints and Tissues Youthful

Most people have lost their normal contact with nature and simple natural living. They no longer know how to eat the way God intended.

If you suffer from premature old joints and hardened tissues, take the ACV mixture several times daily. Eliminate or cut down on animal proteins and stop all refined sugars and see how very youthful your body will feel.

You will find after several months of the ACV and honey cocktail taken once or twice daily, the misery will be gone from your joints. You will discover you can walk or run up several flights of stairs without any effort. You will notice that you look younger and above all, that you feel younger than you have for years.

Over the years we have seen many stiff jointed, prematurely old people transform themselves into new, youthful, healthy people. We cannot do it for you. You must make the effort to give this ACV and honey program a chance to prove what it can do for you! We challenge you to begin today!"

Hey Vlasik, Thanks for your response. I am doing ok now. Sadly I think I have an acidic issue that was highlighted by the ACV. The positive- is that doing this has led me to do some research on acidosis (when the body has too much acid) and I have decided based on a list of physical ailments that surprised me as very consistent with my problems(ie. skin outbreaks that don't go away) that I need to go on a diet to alkalize my body. So, in a way trying this was a good thing for me because it led me to understand my chemistry is out of whack. Oh to be 18 years old and healthy again. I am so tired of feeling at war with this body of mine. All the best to you and everyone!

For the people wondering about taking it while traveling: It works well to buy the small size water bottles and pre-mix it. I do that for my lunch at work.

Was wondering how many times do u take ACV drink in a day if u included a one before bed.Do let us know.

I don't think vlasik forced you to have this. She jus' suggested her opinion as she felt like sharing her success.Cool down "asmuchasicanstand" every system reacts in different way..I took the same drink that VLASIK suggested and so far I had no problem with it.Initially even I had problem with my throat but now am used to it..And agreed am not getting the same great results as vlasik becos every system is different and it varies from person to person.Guys if we are going to discourage other's success then we are getting nowhere..jus' felt like expressing my feeling..

Guys please do bear in mind this board is basis for you all to express your opinions and success.Jus' becos someone suggested to take u something does not mean they are forcing you to.If you are unsure please please do your home work.Remember every system reacts in different way and it differs from person to person.I urge and request you to not to discourage others from sharing their secrets of their success..we shud instead applaud for their generousity.I took advice of VLASIK it was hurtful to my throat but gradually I got used to it.So far am not having any problems with it but then am not having the same great results as VLASIK..and its real frustrating but my body is different and instead fretting over it I can find out from VLASIK what am doing wrong or do my own homework and find out what is best for me.Am real sorry for others who are very sensitive to acidity.I really feel bad for you and am sure you will definitely find out a way to reach your desire weight...pls pls pls don't loose hope...GOODLUCK...

VLASIK thanks again for sharing your thoughts. You had suggested to mix honey 2 tablespoon and I was taking less honey as I was worried about honey contributing to lot of carb intake. Is that why am not loosing much weight every week..Please do let me know..

Others I lost 2 pounds again this week with ACV drink diet, good eating habits and excercise.GOODLUCK EVERYONE..

While shopping at Walmart last night; I came across some acv tablets. So, I thought; why not? If it doesn't work--it's not like I haven't wasted money on weightloss plans before! Anyhow, I tried the drink and just couldn't handle it. So, I bought the pills. I'm wondering if they don't work as well for some people because you really have to pay attention to the dosage. My bottle is 600 mgs for 2 tablets. Two tablets is equivalent to 1 tsp. That means (and I'm no mathematician) that I'd have to take 12 pills before each meal to equal the 2 tblsp. doasage. I'm not into swallowing that many pills at one sitting; so I've decided to cut it in half. I started this morning; I'll let you know how it goes.

I almost gagged just having my grapefruit juice on its own this morning!! I may have to go back to the pills for a few days!!!! DANGIT!

Well just to report again. I am the one taking Jamieson slimdown super apple cider viniger with added green tea pills. EACH pill contains 750mg of ACV and 125 of green tea. You take 2 pills 3x a day. I got them at Walmart, 90 pills for $5.00 Canadian (so free for you Americans he,he) I really think they are working. I have lost almost 10lbs and I think it has been 3 weeks. I have even missed some days completely because my daugter had surgery and I was in the hospital, she is doing great now. I do exercise with the firm 5 days a week, I try to eat healthy but I am not perfect by any means. Brownies and ice cream (preferably together) still seem to find their way into my mouth. Thanks to the FIRM I had lost 55lbs since November but I was stuck at 215 for almost two months. I added the AVC pills 3 weeks ago and I am now 205. I have 40lbs to go and I think AVC will help. Sorry this is long but I know we like to know all the info. Good luck everyone.

I am happy for all of ya'll even if you decided not to take the acv diet. hats off to all who is trying so hard to lose the fat.
I have a certain health problem that kind of limits me from taking the solution, but I am going to try it any ways.

HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did loose 2 pounds each week with ACV accompanied with 30 minute long stride walk and now its completely stopped.May be its becos for me only HEINZ brand works and once this gets over I shud buy that.

Guys I have another problem my tastebuds are bitter past few days (reminding of my pregnancy phase a year back...I don't want to recall that it was awful). Is anyone feeling that??????Is it because am taking lot of capsules.I take green tea and ACV caplets or is it grapefruit juice I don't know.I am having that for past few days and only thing new I did was included ACV caplets. Those who are taking ACV caplets does that leave your tongue bitter..

And another problem is I am getting less bowel movements but I certainly don't feel constipated. Is everything pushed in to bloodstream I don't know my whole system is becoming a mystery to me wish I get my inches off..Guys if you can figure out whats happening to me do let me know I really appreciate it.

Hope someone catches this new message here, and replies.

I mentioned this in another thread about the ACV.

I started it yesterday, using the Heinz ACV. I mix it with water and add some equal, and drink it about 2x a day (When I'm at work, I just use it in my salad dressing). Boy do I have bowel movements. I must have went 5 times today, and they were not small ones either (Sorry to be graphic). I was hoping this was normal, anybody have any idea on why this is??

I tried this today. I used 2 tsp of ACV, a little water and chugged it. It wasn't too bad...I've had worse. The smell is awful. I was wondering....how would you know if it is actually the ACV making you lose weight since you are dieting and exercising? I mean...diet and exercise makes you lose ya know.

How about I pour some ACV on FRENCH FRIES? Love it like that. Totally kidding of course. :p

Could be that your stomach is not very strong. It's like how some people can't eat spicy foods.

I have a pritty strong stomach and can tolerate just about anything. So far I've been able to drink the mix pritty strong with no side effects..

ACV is not going to cause fast weight loss. You have to diet very strictly to get quick weight loss. According to a book called Cider Vinegar by Cyril Scott, ...quote... "to get the desired effect the practice is to be continued over a long period. Obesity cannot be expected to vanish in twenty-four hours, nor is it desirable that it should...surplus fat will gradually disappear". According to Scott, ACV works by increasing oxygen oxidation in the bloodstream, thereby speeding up your metabolism. This takes time, it's not a quick fix. To expect fast results is just setting yourself up for a big disappointment.

He recommends drinking 2 teaspoons with each meal (or you can take 1 tablespoon twice a day if you prefer), and even have a 3rd dose at some point in the day, if desired. It's not absolutely set in stone, but the recommendation is around 2-3 tablespoons a day, total, taking no more than 1 tablespoon at once.

Trying to chug down 2 tablespoons of vinegar at a time is hard to do, no wonder it's making some people sick to their stomach. That's a lot of "acid" to drink all at once. I've read many references to ACV helping with weight loss, but I've never seen such a high dose recommended. If you can handle drinking that much, it probably won't harm you, but I have read nothing which states that it will work any better, either.

I started the ACV about 3 weeks ago (stopped while on vacation). I didn't have any stomach problems and didn't find the taste all that bad. I plan to start back up tomorrow. It's been suggested on this thread drinking it with warm or hot water. I actually liked it better in cold water. Drinking it with a straw is KEY. If you are having trouble swallowing the ACV/water, try a straw.

I use about 4 oz. water, but if you like the taste better with more water, it shouldn't hurt to use more (the book I mentioned says to mix the vinegar with a "tumbler" of water, however much that is!) The author also states that adding raw, unfiltered honey is excellent because honey is loaded with nutrients and enzymes (it also makes it taste a lot better).

I forgot to mention, for those who have had stomach problems with ACV, try taking it with or immediately after a full meal. This also aids digestion.

Do you have to mix it with water, or can you take it straight? I don't really mind vinegar, actually I kind of like it, so can I just take the two tablespoons or does the water help?

For me I do not use the Apple Cider Vinegar. I use the pills not he drink. The pills also smell like the vinegar but I have never taste it in the pills. I have been taking the pills for 5 days and have lost 4lbs and 2inches and thats good. They make you eat but what you eat comes right back out and someone said they take 3, 3x a day thats a bit much. I only take one pill when I wake up and one before I go to bed. They make you feel good to. My family didn't even know I was taking the pills and noticed results in 3 days. I don't think you should use the cheap ones just the GNC ones they are good.

Many people are of the impression that taking cider vinegar pills or adding cider vinegar to your food would help a lot in weight loss.

But most dieticians feel that it changes absolutely nothing. In fact it is an old fad diet. Even if you do lose some weight, it is only because you had very few calories. It has nothing to do with the weight loss effects of cider vinegar.

And before I get my head chewed off, I'm just stating what I have read on nutrition and weight loss boards and what a friend of mine was told by her doctor when she asked him about it.

There's only ONE safe, healthy way to lose weight - calorie control and exercise.

I looked up info about apple cider vinegar on the internet a while back.
You will at first see a lot of ads about stuff you can buy concerning vinegar to help you lose weight, but then I came across information that all this hype about vinegar helping people lose weight is a bunch of bull.

LV40
06-07-2005, 11:39 AM
And that's exactly what it is... bull.

However, people believe it because so many are desperate to lose weight. I was one of those people, buying into all these fad diets and "miracle cures". There's no such thing as a miracle cure. We're all looking for the easiest and fastest ways to lose weight that we believe this stuff when it's told to us.

Diet and exercise, in that order, is how you lose weight. And when I say "diet", I don't mean going on an actual diet; I mean making permanent lifestyle changes that you can live with.

LV40

I would hope your doctor would know an answer to that, if he/she didn't I would question their education. You need bio-chem for pre-med and should know how certain acids affect your body.

Sorry to burst your bad attitude bubble, but it does help. Where are you getting your facts from? If you read any of the previous posts from when the thread was started it has worked for many people, BUT everyone loses weight differently. It does speed up your metabolism and you can lose a moderate amount of weight. Unfortunatly you can't lose tons of weight with the acv. It is great for maintaining weight though, once you get down to a goal weight, and it is good for your body and has many other benefits besides moderate weight loss.

I was just wondering right... if you add honey to it does it not make you lose weight? Since honey contains sugar and all! And calories too. Bad for blood sugar?? Makes your body safe it as fat cos of high blood sugar?

Lenin

I think cider vinegar is delicious and in the OLD way of making it at home, was probably a mix of several beneficial fermenting bacteria. Anything bought in the store today is filtered and sterile and god knows why anyone would want to reduce what is essentaily acetic acid to a pill (well, to make money I guess!)

Unless you skip a meal or a snack regulary because you took a dose of vinegar you will not lose any weight.
But hey, it makes for a NICE salad dressing with a good olive oil!

The acid isn't that strong, its only about 5 %, plus you are diluting it with at least 4 oz. - 8oz. of water to about 1-2 tablespoons of the apple cider vinegar. It has been proven to be beneficial to your body ina number of ways. Right now I am on a low calorie diet and taking apple cider pills and it is working really well. I have lost 6lbs in 4 days, and I haven't done anything but eat smaller portions and take 2 pills with every meal.

I am new on this website, as well as the boards. I came here looking for answer to another question I have. When I found this disscusion though it sounded interesting since apple cider vinegar is a natural food.(I guess you would call it a food or drink). I am going to give this as well as the salad dressing recipet a try. Have to substitute artifical sweetner sweetner though because of diabetes.

Hi everyone. I gave the cocktail a shot and all I can say is "eek!" I used a straw like someone had mentioned to bypass the tastebuds and that helped, but it was a little brutal after the fact. My stomach ached a little bit, so I'm not sure if it was the cider or the sugar in the honey causing that. I'll have to experiment to find out. Anyway, after burping up cider for a half hour, I think I'm going to dilute much more heavily next time. I really want to give this a honest shot.

On a side note, ACV is not new to me. If you have ever been to Thrasher's Fries, in Ocean City, NJ, or seen them on the Food network, you'll know that ACV and a touch of salt is the BEST way to eat french fries. Set aside the ketchup and give it a try, you'll love it.

I found this website by accident looking for soloutions on how I can loose weight and not be hungry (and without the expense of slimming pills) I must say I thought that this cider viniger sounded rather strange to me but as always I have given it a try and to my surprise and joy I have lost an amazing 6lb in my first week.So I would like to thank all you people on this board for all your tips and hints for giving me a new way of life that I can live with comfortably.I must say though im still trying to get used to the taste eewww :bouncing:

I went out to our local Wal-Mart yesturday and bought some heinz acv and some pure honey to add. I've been putting 2 tablespoons of honey and acv in half (8 oz. glass) of warm water. The taste is not very good and I've only been able to drink about half of the mix at a time. Since I'm adding honey would I benefit more with the pills or is the liquid the way to go. I'd like to lose a total of fifteen pounds. I was using Zantrex-3 and was feeling sick all of the time so I stopped that to try this. I'm hoping to have some luck with it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Dear ddevine,
I, too, just purchased the acv and have been adding honey to the mixture. I'm so glad to hear that you, too, also lost a good deal of weight during the first week. Are you exercising or dieting in conjunction? How many times a day are you drinking it? I just started it yesterday and have had one glass each day. I'm going to try to have 2 per day starting tomorrow, but it does taste pretty bad. Tested my "gag reflexes" this morning. LOL. Hopefully it'll work, though. I have to lose at least 10lbs by the first weekend in August. Wish me luck!

Oh dear, I just made a post about this exact same thing in the Diet & Nutrition forum....whoops :)

I'm going to attempt this as well, because I'm desperately trying to lose 20 pounds, and I don't think my current diet (trying to take in 1000-1200 calories a day) is doing me much good. I have read that some people who have tried this diet have lost up to 5 pounds in one week...I'm going to definitely try this.

But I must ask this...must regular exercise be incorporated into the plan for the diet to be effective? I only ask because I sadly live a rather sedentary life (I am horrible with exercise...I get tired too quickly). I will continue to cut back on my calories as well as use the vinegar-water mixture.

I've been trying this for a few days now and it seems to be doing some good. I've only been able to force myself to drink the mix once a day so far, but I'm going to try to work up to at least twice a day. I've started chasing the mix with a glass of ice water. After every sip of it, I take a drink of my ice water. How's everyone else doing?

I mix 2 TBL ACV and 2 TBL honey with warm water and drink it 3 times a day before meals. I started this last Friday night. I have to admit... I think it tastes good and sometimes I want to drink more. I had a 2 lb weight loss after 2 days and now I'm back up. I'm also doing 30 minutes on the stairclimber (level 4) and situps and some weight machines 2-3 times a week. I also bike for 15+ miles every other Saturday (my bf is training for a marathon so I bike while he runs and I carry his water).

I'm also trying to cut back on my excessive eating as much as possible... that's the hardest for me. I'm 39, 5'3" and 150lbs. I would like to lose 20-25 lbs.

I really am amazed at how much I like this drink... my coworkers think I'm gross. LOL :bouncing:

I like Apple Cider Vinegar so do you think it will work the same way just drinking vinegar and not making the mix with honey and water?
