Does anyone know a good low fat smoothie recipe? I am really craving a milkshake and I think the smoothie would do the trick. Thanks! :)

If you just want low-fat; any fruit with skim milk and ice cubes will do the trick. If you use frozen fruit--you will get some thickness. Add some frozen yogurt if you like!

Yea I use about 1/2 cup nonfat milk (or milk and fruit juice, just so there's enough liquid to cover the blades of the blender is the key!), and any combination I choose of peaches, pineapples, strawberries, and bananas... I worked at a Smoothie place for 2 years so I am kinda an expert ;) lol... blend it with crushed ice and I usually add an artificial sweetener such as Sweet N Low otherwise it tastes just like ice! Good luck!

My daughters and I make this one.
In a blender combine the following :(this is the main ingredients)
One whole banana (the riper the better)
One whole apple (cored and peeled)
One container of vanilla yogurt (or any other flavor similar to the fruit you are using)
splash of orange juice
Milk
Ice cubes
(Add any other fruit you prefer, we like strawberries.)

This one is my all time fave. High in protein and calcium.
1/2 cup lowfat cottage cheese
1/2 cup 2% milk
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
small banana
1/2 cup lowfat vanilla yogurt
1 packet of splenda
about 325 cals, and TONS of calcium. Mix all in blender. Refrigerates well, I drink half in the morning and the other half at night for dessert.

How does it taste w/ cottage cheese in it? Does it have a weird texture or can't you tell?

You can't tell at all. It is just rich, creamy and very filling. I can't finish it all, have to save some for later

My favorite is a very simple one that I can make without chopping anything. I use 1 cup orange juice, 1 - 1 1/2 cups frozen fruit, and 1 banana. I like frozen strawberries the best. Make sure the frozen fruit has no added sugar. I also like to use orange/pineapple juice. If you want one more like a milkshake just use 1 cup FF milk or Vanilla Soy Milk instead of the juice. Hope you like it!
