If you go to Yahoo and do a search for "south beach diet" you'll find info from Prevention magazine about it. That may help you out. I've never heard of it until you mentioned it, so I don't have an opinion on it. But good luck if you try it!

I have not read very much of the book yet-all I see it say it is not a low-carb nor a low fat, it teaches you good carb, bad carb, good fat, and bad. I will do some reading on it, I started this morning, I had eggs this morning and cheese for a snack. I want to lose 30 pounds and it says you will lose 8-13 in the first 14 days.

This is my third day on the south beach diet and I must say it is one of the easiest diets I've been on. As long as you can keep your mind off those carbs and focus on what you can have, you'll be fine. I want to lose about 35 lbs total, and while I realize that may take some time even with this diet, I'm determined. I've lost about 5 lbs so far, but I know that it's mostly water. My water weight has always had serious fluctuations. I'd love to hear how everyone else on this diet is doing though. Nothing keeps me going more than hearing success stories. So let me know.

I bought the South Beach book but was disappointed at all that menus that required cooking specialty foods. Is everyone following the menus with the recipes or are you following the food list.

I know exactly what you mean about the recipes. When I got the book I thought oh no, not only do I have to cook, but I have to buy all these ingredients as well!! I went to the supermarket and spent about $50 some dollars on just certain items I wanted, such as: cheese sticks, egg substitute, i cant believe its not butter spray, and lots of green veggies. I don't follow the recipes unless I want to and I certainly can't afford to follow the exact meal plan. So I guess that was my really long way of saying that I just use the foods on the list.
