Hello all, i am starting the atkins answer diet and was wondering about foods to eat. IT says to stay away from carbs and have max 20grams a day. In the book that comes with the package it says for breakfast many different combos but all with eggs. I have somewhat high cholestrol and should prob stay away from eggs but all the breakfast examples are with eggs. ANyone know what else you can have? ALso is it alright to eat eggs every day or several times a week? THanks for the help,

With hight colesterol you probably should stay away from Atkins completely.

Atkins claimed his plan actually helped cholesterol levels . . . eggs and all. And I have known people who go on it and claim the same thing. And then there are the studies that claim that the cholesterol in eggs really does not translate into higher blood cholesterol levels. Are you going to be monitored by your doctor?

If you stick with Atkins as dictated in the book, you should see success. As with any diet, you should always consult your doctor. After trying Atkins for several months and following as stated, I lost 30lbs. I being a "Doubting Thomas" went to my doctor and had a full blood study and was told my number was some of the best he had seen in quite some time. This was almost 4 years ago. I did gain back some of that weight, but I realize it was because my overdosing on complex carbos.
I believe what Atkins, the Zone and other similar diets are attempting to say it to mange our carb intake, which when you research really do have many adverse effects when endulged to much.
The utlimate decision must come from you and your satisifaction with your results. God Bless and good luck.

You can have bacon and sausage too. I post a recipe for modified french toast. It's low-carb. You can find it in the "atkins #3" thread.

Skip, I wanted to thank you for that great French toast recipe. I made it this morning, actually 2 big ones. I only ate one and wrapped the other up to reheat another day. I have the Atkin's syrup and I'm telling you, this was "delicious." I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast. You don't taste pork rinds, believe me. It's just too funny that this recipe works. BIG THANKS!!!!!!!
I've been doing some experimenting and now I'm not having a hard time and I'm enjoying this diet, mainly because I'm never hungry. I'm finding it hard to eat much at all when I sit down to eat, especially at dinner. I bought the sugar-free ketchup and if you add some Splenda, it tastes just like regular ketchup. I made some cocktail sauce for my shrimp and some barbecue sauce. I purchased pancake/waffle mix (Keto brand) and some lemon poppyseed muffin mix. Later I will try the bread baking and cookie recipes. I feel better physically because I'm clearing my body of all that crap and watching my clothes fit better, but mentally, this is just making me feel GREAT.
