First I want to say hi to everybody. I've been looking at health boards for a couple of years now, and all of your knowledge has answered so many of my questions.

So has anyone tried the slim fast diet? I went and bought some double chocolate "royale" (aka crap in a can). I only want to drop about 10 lbs. I'm really bad at starting a diet and sticking with it, as are many of you I'm sure.
If anyone has tried it, what results did you get? I'd replace a meal with a shake, but which meal is best to replace?

You're input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Elisa

I did slim fast last summer. It takes my body 2 weeks to start losing with anything it seems. I did lose about 10 lbs with that, but it was hard and got very hungry around 3-4pm. I had a small brkfst and slimfast for lunch with a fruit/veggie or the meal bars are good too, with a regular dinner. Unfortunately I gained it all back when the stress hit. So, now I am just trying the old fashioned better eating habbits and exercize. With the slimfast I also had a few snacks during the day to tide me over (veggies/crackers or something). Hope that helps

Slim fast never worked for me. I wasn't on it very long, but those bars and drinks are just all carbs which you know are the enemy. I think maybe something like those carb advantage bars or protein bars would work better. But I think all of them will leave you feeling hungry no matter what. It sucks!

I started it today, and I was HUNGRY all day long. It's miserable to be hungry. I think I'm going to try that zantrex3.

Thanks girls!

Did the SF thang. Lost a little weight. Came right back, + some.

I much prefer to chew my food. For breakfast today, I had 1/2 cup cottage cheese, mixed with 1/2 cup Kashi GoLean Crunch, and an eggbeaters omelet for the same calories in one measly can that leaves me starving 15 min later.

So while it is a short term fix, eventually every single "diet" known to man comes down to "eat less, move more".

I have been doing Slim Fast for 2 1/2 weeks now. I have seen good results. (6 pounds lost so far). I was also very hungry for the first week or so. But I got used to it. Your stomach shrinks and it takes much less to fill you up. So now I actually am satisfied with a shake for breakfast, a meal bar for lunch, and snacks in between. I was a major overeater with no motivation, and if this diet can work for me, it can work for anyone.

I have also seen a remarkable increase in my energy level. Once I lose the weight I plan on using the Slim Fast Maintenance Plan to maintain my weight loss, so it doesn't just come right back. Not to mention eating more healthfully. I know how hard it is too lose weight, so I will do everything in my power to keep it from coming back.

If you can get through the first 2 weeks on this diet it gets much easier. Plus I like the fact that I don't have to worry about buying all kinds of special foods and snacks to stay low calorie. Not having to worry about making breakfast or lunch is a plus too.

I also just don't buy into the whole low carb thing that everyone is so hip on these days.

Just my opinion.... :)

I have been on slimfast for almost 2 weeks and I have received pretty good results. I am not hungry like some say they are. I also don't believe in all the low carb hype. I also believe different diets work for different people. No matter what plan you are on after you lose the weight if you don;t change your eatting and add exercise you will gain it back.

I tried the slimfast diet I did it for a long time about a year and 3 months and lost over 100 pounds, it does work. You will be hungry for the first couple of weeks, but you get used to it. I also drink alot of water all the time. The granola bars are excellent. They sell starter packs of the slimfast that include the shakes, the granola bars, and the snack bars, it's a really good way to try it and see if you are going to like it. Slimfast isn't for everyone, but my experiences with it have been very positive. Also I have kept all of my weight off, I now eat very well and exercise almost every day, but am not doing the slimfast diet now, I am having no problem maintaining my weight. My advice on this diet is to not get frustrated with it, give it a chance and it will probably work for you, and periodically if you like take a break from it for a week and then go back to it. Just make sure you drink alot of water with it and exercise as often as you can.
